We have tons to sell or release without hitting Gray to make money and cut wages.

Romero, VDV, Udogie, Porro, Vicario, Bentancur, Richarlison, Kolo Muani, Solanke, Sarr, Palhinha, Bissouma.

That is 12 players already accounting for around 50% of our wages. You don’t sell what you plan to build you future team around. You sell those without a future at the club first. Newcastle cut around 50% of the squad when they went down and came back up the following season, I expect if we aren’t dumb that will be us.

Edit: could add Gallagher on to that.
I don't disagree but does Gray want to play in the Championship? I doubt it very much.

It's not just about selling players to raise money, it's the fact we're gonna have a squad full of prima Donnas who don't wanna be playing in the championship.

It takes graft and toil to get out of that league, players in a strop because we wouldn't sell them won't help us.

I think we're going to need a full rebuild. On the bright side, Sunderland managed to replace almost their entire starting XI this year so it is possible. But then they didn't have Lange in charge of that

Seeing 80 percent of this squad leave will take a bit of the sting out of relegation .
I don’t see our manager still being In charge at Christmas though .

He has long contract so it’s not his choice. Only way he leaves in that circumstance is a massive offer like £80-100m. Remember Leeds only let him go for what was then a massive offer of £40m.

Gray, Bergvall and Vuskovic won’t go unless the offer is way too good to turn down. £100m type offers.

Kane tried to leave and City wouldn’t pay the £160m, Isak did leave but Newcastle forced Liverpool to pay £130m.

Is suspect we will keep all 3 but if Liverpool offer £90m for Gray and Bayern offer £110m for Vuskovic they are gone but I would be surprised if we sold them for much less than that. Shocked even, Levy wouldn’t, I don’t see the Lewis being that much different.

Surely another season on loan at Hamburg for Vuskovic rather than selling

If we can get 90-100m for him or thereabouts, club prob should take it. The chances of him becoming much more valuable than that are less than versus the chance of him getting a career-ending injury. He's NOT going to sign another contract with us- and the complete fools in our board/exec can thank themselves for putting the club in such a position.

i think this squad is cursed and needs to be completely dismantled. i'd hear offers for every player over the age of 24. players who are younger and we want to keep, i think we'll be able to. even if we have to loan them out for a season while we get out of the championship

I almost feel as if you have three options for players when going down to the championship:

1.) Players from newly relegated sides NOT picked up by prem teams (Joao Gomes, Hartman etc..)
2.) Ageing players that might not have the legs for the Prem but could do a job in the Championship (Walker, Milner, Trippier)
3.) The 'better' players in the Championship (Fatawu, Hackney)

In reality i'd like to see a few of each i.e Trippier, Fatawu.. i'd even consider bringing back Kyle Walker-Peters from WH if our current full backs decide to leave

If Boro don’t go up we need Hackney. Plays the 6 role and both our 6’s Bissouma and Palhinha are off and he is better.

I think quite a few of the players we'd want to keep would stay for a season in the Championship, but if we didn't get immediate return to the Prem they'd be gone.

We'd get an insane amount of attention next season in that league, both in a good way (loads of TV matches, news etc) but also everyone but everyone would treat us like a cup final.

That is where you are mistaken. Do you think if we were relegated Kane would have stayed? Archie Gray is not Kane but I dare say he is ambitious and wants to represent England. He's not going to advance that objective playing in the Championship. Players careers are very short and they have one, maybe two big contracts in them. He's a proven PL player and will not entertain a season in the Championship. As for these mythical fees you are throwing around. No chance. Our PL revenue will drop from 180m to 55m. Our commercial revenue by 40% and thats being conservative. Match day revenue likewise. We need to sell.
A contract does not mean the player will be forced to play with us no matter what the circumstances. It just means we can ask for a fee. He will go if we are relegated and it will be about 50m.

League 1 players who can do a job in the Championship.

Of course it does if a player refuses to play their career will go down the toilet if they do that for a full season or two. There is nothing about Gray that suggests he would risk that. Contract protects the player but it also protect the club. A contract unless it has a release clause is binding. His way out would be for someone to overpay to make it worth our while.

I don’t think our issue will be keeping Gray or Bergvall. It will be shifting Gallagher and co.

Exactly, this club has needed dismantling for a while now.
Sadly, it looks like relegation is the only way for that to take place.
Just have to embrace it.
