I never said I expect a flawless game. But I do think that having a specialist on the payroll that focuses on the players mental aspects to the game it will go a step further towards risk minimalization.
Lucas and Serge are most likely used to this since they come from PSG and PSG follow the Ekkono method of football, which focuses on the mental aspects of football and pushing players to always strive towards playing to their fullest capability while also playing at their smartest. Another club utilizing this system to great effect is Barcelona.
Not saying it is THE way to go forward. But it could be worth discussing.
I did. I haven’t been convinced by our resolve. Europe away with a must win game. Years telling me that we haven’t batted above .200 in those types of games.
Is it, oh well, maybe go back and look at the interviews when that chubby argie has talked about us having a winning mentality......that should keep you busy.

How was it deserved, the game operates on a set of laws, the part that applies is that there were two defenders ahead of the attacker and behind Lloris. The tackle was mistimed not reckless. Those are the parameters for a dismissal in that scenario neither were met. Check your bias then comment
It's been going on a lot longer than once the WC though. He was pretty poor last season for us, he made fuck-ups in qualifying for France, then made an enormous one in a WCfinal. He's always had a fuck-up in him, even in France before we bought him. But for some reason they've become even more frequent. He's now cost us in two out of three CL games. (and no, I'm not saying he's the only one making mistakes, but his have been very poor and very costly).
If this was a keeper at another club we'd be laughing our fucking tits off. We did when it was Liverpool/Karius.
Any criticism gets met with "but he made great saves last week" but aren't most of the decent keepers making good saves every week - that's not all keeping is about is it?

Well said, some people think the rules are, if a foul is commited on an attacking player when they are through on goal, then it is a red card.
That rule has been done away with.
The rule now is, it's only a red card if the defending player does NOT make a genuine attempt to play the ball.
Hugo tried to play the ball, the attacker wasn't caught by Hugo's tackling foot but by his trailing leg, therefore it should not have been a red card.
On saying that I can see why he was given a red.

PSV were shit. Whats more, they have been shit in Europe in spite of recent domestic dominance (eg knocked put of EL at qualifier stages). Not condoning complacency but your rationale is moot.
MF: Who wouldn't struggle to replace Modric? ....Beyond that you're talking guff.... In recent years combos of Dier, Vic, Dembele and Winks have dominated MANY games; some against the very best. Dembele and Sandro also formed a formidable partnership before injury wrecked Sandro.
Pre-season games are meaningless in this context.

I think if we're honest that result has been coming as we've been well below par all season. Even against utd we were lucky to go in nil nil at the break. So we had a good spell for 20mins vs Fulham and a strong 2nd half vs utd. Other than that, we've been fortunate to win the games we've won. Liverpool could have beaten us by 4 or 5 too.
Glad to see a few posts reference our strange mentality this season. Think I'm right in saying that spurs had the strongest stats from winning positions last season and actually the best record in scoring late on in games? Either way, we look poor when we take a lead, desperate if I'm totally honest. As soon as we made it 2 1, we just seemed content to play ourselves into needless trouble. Eriksens's blind pass which led to the goal was just a symptom of what we've been doing for weeks. And when we did have chances we squandered them. Ref had nothing to do with us wasting those did he.
I thought we were lucky to beat a truly dreadful Cardiff side who had 10 men. Likewise vs the spunk brothers xi last weekend. Lamela and moura the only 2 in our team playing well, with the exception of Trips, but he never looks totally convincing defensively. Everything we are doing at the moment is so ponderous, you can predict what we will do every attack, so for the better teams they can prepare for it and exploit our very average defensive midfield and leaky defence.
Even more worrying to me - the types of goals we are scoring. Every goal we've scored starting with the Huddersfield game has been either from a cross or a pen. To me, this underlines the lack of movement from kane up top. He looks like he's running in molasses. Last season he absolutely dominated the real Madrid defence at Wembley and countless other teams last season. He was off the shoulder and also using his strength. In my mind he is operating at about 50% of his actual level. And he's also struggling to get his shots off, which was again evident last night. Just a real lack of sharpness. It says wonders of his ability that he's still banging them him despite clearly being off his peak.
Not seen it in this thread but our passing was shite last night. Yes Eriksen delivered a cracking cross for kane and a cute pass for trippier but he often played the ball behind runners and did no tracking back of note. V odd sub taking off moura for me. Sadly though Eriksen is our only top class passer. Dier Dembele winks son lamela Davies trippier just average at best playing attacking passes.
Worst of all is Eric dier. I genuinely can't tell you a game where I thought he's been good for Spurs. When he scored vs Whu following the England game it meant he's basically undroppable. In the modern game he just offers nothing. He's not quick, makes consistently poor decisions, and always seems a pass behind the game. But because he's English he's a media darling. Look at last night, once Dembele was subbed we had no one on the pitch except lamela who was committing players. Dier passes sideways, backwards or even worse attempts 60yrd passes that go out of play. He thinks he's pirlo but plays like cattermole. He's going to get embarrassed vs man city but he's guaranteed to start.

The only question on Lloris and his sending-off and our subsequent draw is whether it is a temperament issue with the player or symptomatic of the club?
I lean towards the club and thus the manager in that I believe that Ferguson and Mourinho in his pomp would never have continually allowed the brilliance strewn with the BIG errors. 10 times apparently Lloris has erred in a very obvious fashion. 5 times more than the next Premier League goalie.

Given our investment (Hotspur Way + The Lodge) it would be a shock that we don't have someone, wouldn't it? It's well documented that Poch and Jesus are big on this when at Southampton. (Not with us, as we are a closed shop, if we don't want to put it out in the public domain then it's locked).
Lucas and Aurier came to us from a club that can't handle the Champions League any better than we can though.What like.............

For them as well as Son, Wanyama, Vertonghen, Eriksen and Toby you are pointing to trophies that are from weaker European leagues where they never come up against top European sides or an Asian tournament where the main threat is Japan.
It basically leaves Lloris and Llorente, neither of whom can really influence the key moments of big games. Hugo because of his position, Llorente because he is on the bench at best.
