It seems 2008 is around the time that the FA tightened the net.

The scum got fined £60k for something similar. If anything happens and they find new evidence, which is unlikely given how long ago it was and the fact that the arbitration had all the information then, that I expect this will either follow a similar suit as the Chambers case or it will just disappear into the ether and we will never hear of it again.

Previous 2 x instances:

Luton: 10-point deduction.
Leeds: 250k fine.

........Nice to see there's consistency of punishment here as always. 🙄 🙄 🙄

I think Luton put an unlicensed agent on the paper work. I doubt we did that.

There is already a precedent for this with Callum Chambers, Arse did it in 2014.

‘’Woolwich have been fined 60,000 after breaching football agent regulations in the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton.

The Football Association also warned the Gunners over their future conduct following Chambers’ move from Saints on 26 July 2014 for an undisclosed fee in the region of £11million.

Agent Alan Middleton was fined £30,000 and given a suspended three-month ban for his part in the same matter.

A statement from the FA read: “Woolwich have been fined 60,000 and warned as to their future conduct after breaching the FA’s football agent regulations.

“The charge was in relation to the transfer of Calum Chambers from Southampton to Woolwich on July 26, 2014.

“Woolwich admitted part of the breach but denied another, which was found not proven following an independent regulatory commission.

“The charges against Mr Middleton, which he denied, were found proven.”

The written reasons for the sanctions described the incident as a case of “partial” fronting, where an unauthorised and unlicensed agent was involved.

A statement from Woolwich read: “We acted in good faith throughout in this transfer and had no reason to believe that the player’s representative was not authorised to be involved in the transfer negotiations.

“The FA fully recognised that there was no intention to mislead on Woolwich’s part.

“We have improved our procedures to prevent this happening again.”

Middleton was warned to his future conduct, sanctioned for breaching regulations, fined 30,000 and “suspended from all agency/intermediary activity for a period of three months”.

The ban is suspended for 18 months from 23 October 2015 “unless he commits an offence contrary to the agents regulations or the FA’s regulations on working with intermediaries during this time,” the FA said.

Responding to the outcome, Middleton, of Cassius Sports Management, said: “I am pleased that the FA commission found that the only case to answer was a minor procedural error which was a genuine oversight by ourselves and Woolwich.

“As a company we take our responsibilities extremely seriously and it was pleasing to see that the commission acknowledged that at all times we acted in the best interests of the player and co-operated fully with the commission’s investigation.

“Lessons have been learned and we have implemented measures that would ensure such an error could not happen again.”

Funny, TS didn't mention this most recent case............ 🙄

Interesting that in 2015 - when these rules are way more ingrained - that it is punished far less than when Luton got charged back in 2008 when these laws were only just being established. 🙄

I'm not claiming to know how the legalities of it works, but surely Luton were less deceptive in doing so (presumably feeling they were doing nothing wrong)......

There's a grey area in these old cases which is when did these rules come into action (as it was about this time - i.e. 2008 - that they did)...........? ......... Where's the cut-off point? .......Where do Spurs sit on that time-line? .......Why such a disparity between Luton & Leeds?

Yeah, relegation and take their trophies away.

I'm starting to think that it won't be a question of "if" City get relegated. There's just far too many charges and evidence against them for them not to be, but I'm concerned about how far it will end up going. If they've genuinely committed 115 counts of FFP infringements then take 10 points off them per count and send them to the bottom tier of English football.

A one season relegation just won't be a fitting punishment as they'll be back up in a year. To feel it, they'll need to suffer for a long time for to to A) be just and B) to act as a proper deterrent.

But it's pretty likely that there is a degree of corruption within the powers that be in football and that just won't happen.
Also not just one relegation as they’ll piss the champo and be back in PL in no time. Back to League 2 minimum

Luton weren’t docked 10 points for agents, they where docked 10 points for going into administration which is the standard.

The Football Association has said it is prepared to "throw the book at Tottenham" with regard to serious breaches of agent rules in a transfer involving Tottenham Hotspur, Portsmouth and Jermain Defoe.

Spurs are expected to receive a points deduction far in excess of that recently handed down to Everton although the FA is said to be "obviously very reluctant" to look at any allegations involving Chelsea, Manchester City or Newcastle.

TS are peddling lies then:

"When Luton Town, in the same year [2008], were found to have paid agents without representation contracts, they received a ten-point deduction."

Pretty sure Lawton made reference to this whilst he was on the W&J show today too.

TBH; aside from that as an outlier; it's all minor fines so fuck it....... Just pay the piper and get on with our lives.

That ‘journalist’ is like some troll from the Daily Star, odd they have him as a Times reporter, really basic error either done out of not knowing the facts or more likely to generate sensationalism. Luton took fines due to unregistered agents not points deductions.

Confirmed by Reuters who are a very reliable source that they got 10 points for going into administration.

Edit they also got additional points deductions for transfers but related payments outside of the club but via the club holding company that wasnt declared and on 4 transfers they used unregistered agents. We legally used a registered agent but the question mark is whether an unregistered agent got involved off record.

Sure TS is trash media; but they've basically just copy/pasted Lawtons OG article...... Lawton himself IS from The Times.....

"Matt Lawton is an English sports journalist who is currently the chief sports correspondent for The Times newspaper. He was previously the chief sports reporter for the Daily Mail." - Wiki.

This is also in his OG Times article:

"Similar cases investigated by the FA have led to disciplinary action. Luton were deducted ten points and fined £50,000 in 2008 for paying £160,000 to a number of agents without representation contracts in place."

Like I said; if the talk of deductions is bullshit and we're merely in the realms of a small fine then really, who gives a shit, but having already been investigated - and with no new evidence for the FA to consider - I can't see that we'll hear much more about this in a few days...................
