We're in the post stadium era and we're still fucking around and dithering in the transfer market and leaving glaring deficiencies in our squad. Just as we were in pre stadium era.

Fans don't want or deserve another 20 years watching our rivals cleaning up while all we can sing about is balance sheets and profit.

It's time for change and a new direction

Yeah we're in it now, but we started off on the wrong foot due to the state the squad got in and so have a spot of.rebuilding to do before really pushing on- it ain't ideal but it is what it is. How long did it take Woolwich post stadium move to get their house in order? We're ahead of where they were at the same point.

Elite manager in place and a DoF who seems capable - i honestly don't know why, given we are in the early stages of this regime and having already finished in the CL places last season and with us in the mix again this season, why on earth all this Enic shite has started back up again, boring football aside we're moving in the right direction.

Embarrassing.

Meh. We take one step forward & one step back. That's all that happened this season & last. We hired a short term manager who gave us a short term bounce and now we've essentially reverted to the norm. There's no real signs of stable, long term progress as the 'elite manager' has 6 months left, the star player a year left (neither look likely to sign) and Lloris + Son are on the wane.

Making top four once is not moving in the right direction if you get worse the following season.

He has 18 months due to the extension the club has in it's favour.

What signs of stable long term progress are you expecting to see after a half season and halfway through the next? If we remain in the top four or run it close whilst rebuilding will that show signs of progress? I hate to keep harping on about Woolwich but they had two 8th place finishes whilst Arteta & Edu got their rebuild rolling - look at where we are in comparison. The manager has said it will take several windows to fully turn the squad - why aren't we backing him on that? Last time a manager said we needed a rebuild he was emphatically proven correct and 4 years and 3 managers later we have still not seen it through.

Prior to Paratici/Conte people on here were saying we were cut adrift for years to come and now that has proven to not be the case it's 'only a blip'

We aren't activating that clause if he doesn't sign. We're not going to keep a manager here against his will, and if we don't get top four this season then Conte won't stay.

They also won a trophy & were focusing heavily on youth development and had a very young, inexperienced manager, not a guy on 15 million a year with 30+ year olds as they players. Very different situations.

If we get top four this season then you may well say progress, but it's a huge if. And one season in the top four due to a late surge is a one off, not progress. We had a good second half of a season after years of being shit & have now dropped back down again.

I don't think you understand what an extension clause is.

We haven't dropped back/maintained our position or progressed until the season is over and judgments on performance can be made.

The manager may be experienced and expensive but the job at had is not a short term one and everything he has said regarding the job is in relation to the time it will take to rebuild the squad - he is overseeing it, he has reiterated this time and again and also that he has given his opinion to the board on that.

I don't think you understand who Conte is. If he doesn't want to be at this club, he won't be. And if we don't get top four, he's not staying at all.

Edit: The clause is essentially meaningless. If he doesn't sign a new contract we won't activate the clause to keep him here, because he's either committed or he isn't. Our long term for progress is the 2nd most famous short-term manager after Jose.

If he wants to commit to longer than a year he will sign a new longer contract, but not doing so doesnt necessarily mean he doesn't want to be here (rendering the extension meaningless) it seems it's you rather i who doesn't get Conte as he is quite well known to favour shorter contracts in order to keep his options open and the ball in his court.

I don't expect him to sign a fresh contract until part way through next season, all going well on the pitch reliant

Was thinking earlier; what does a post-petro club end up looking like......?

Nome of us really know.
Chelsea is the only example.

And they're in a much better position now than before Abramovich with multiple titles and trophies as mementos from the experience.

They used to be widely considered a smaller club than us. A yo-yo club. Now, even without their oil money, they're still out punching us in the market.

Let's hope the Qatari's restore the rightful order. ENIC certainly won't

Their team spirit didn’t look great on Sunday

I know they probably aren’t interested in the Cup but quite a few of their fans made the long trip up there and deserved better imv

He won't be here next season.

Not going against the rant but two points...

Think they put 50m of their money in prior to the 150m this year.

Have Levy and Lewis claimed to truly love tottenham? I though it was always primary business but nice for them that it's spurs.
Thanks for replying,I wasn’t sure on either points but they haven’t invested a whole ot compared to todays value of the club.

Well that's me convinced

I'd have thought the way he's spoken in the press, the fact he's fallen out with every board he's had (ones much more willing to spend than we are), the fact he's saying he's refusing to talk about his contract & the dreadful football and going backwards since last season would've been pretty convincing.

He's a new, sexier Jose. Better coach (these days) but same underlying issues. It's not gonna work long term with him & Levy at all.

I’d be intrigued to know if he has been made aware of the discussions with QSI (if they have taken place) and he is simply waiting to see if we will become a club that can genuinely compete.

God knows.

Actually just going out & signing Porro rather than dithering over 5/10m would be a nice start regardless of investment, you know since it's a vital position and our options are Doherty & Emerson
