Haven't logged on for a while, but had to when I saw this sad news, great little player in that 80's team, often off the bench, and another that came through the youth team at that time I think, this is a real shock as he can't have been that old either, RIP Garry

Possibly his most famous appearance being to sub Ricky Villa off in the first FA Cup final match v Mancity, but stayed on the bench in the 2nd of the finals when Ricky scored 'that' goal.

Really unlucky with the car crash which effectively ended his career at Spurs when still relatively young, and probably never hit the heights he had when he moved on, and retired when only about 30.

Was only 60 when he died. RIP

Nice little piece from a while back.

RIP

Thats really sad to hear. Way too young. Cracking little player but suffered from competing against Ardiles, Hoddle, Villa and Hazard. Then he had a car crash and never really recaptured his form of the 80/81 season although there were still some great games from him. Was at a 4'-4 draw with Southampton in 1980 when he scored a couple of crackers.

Very sad news as he was a bit of a favourite of mine as a kid, a great impact sub as you always felt he’s be very direct and get shots in. Getting regular games was always going to be difficult against Hod, Ossie, Villa and Hazard but he was never the same after being badly injured in a road accident. Still a good player who played in my favourite Spurs team. RIP Garry
