Sadly I think it would be catastrophic for a guys career if he came out whilst playing.
Fans are merciless horrible cunts. He'd be taunted and abused everywhere he plays. Put in a poor performance and even his fans would be on his back.
I fully understand why, until now, no one has come out openly whilst playing and it makes me cringe when women say men should. It's not the same. A quick check shows 12% of women openly identified as gay at the last WC. There's plenty more who aren't kidding anyone.

But these things aren't black and white. One can be too politically correct. One can be completely un-pc. There's a happy medium in between those two things, and I am bored of people thinking everything is one way or the other.

I watched an episode of that Vinnie Jones program which copies Jeremy Clarkson’s farm one on Prime I think it was.

Vinnie Jones was just an absolute psychopath animal that should never have been allowed anywhere near a football pitch. There is a clip on YouTube titled “Vinnie Jones vs Manchester United 20/02/1994” on the Cesar Futbol Total channel (I can’t link it on here as my computer skills match Ange’s coaching skills!) It shows just what a nutcase he was. He should have been sent off at least 5 times in the match and you can see that all of Keane, Cantona and Ince looked pretty scared to mix it with him. It is 7 minutes 15 secs long but well worth a watch to give a reminder of just how sterilised football now is
