I was in the Shelf the day in November 1988 when he crippled Gary Steven’s with a late challenge while he was tangling with Fashanu on the pitch!

Gary was never the same afterwards

Jones was a dirty bastard but no hard man as most of his challenges were late!

Dave Mackay would have had the cunt for breakfast!

Never saw Dave Mackay but everyone who has, said he was hard as nails but a great player. Jones was just scum who was technically very limited and would never get away with his antics in this day and age.

Is that just superstition about the location of the flag, or actual dislike for what it represents?

Have to say, since October 7th 2023, I have seen a LOT fewer Star of David/Tottenham flags around...

Is that because, secretly, deep down, people know what it represents and are concerned about allying Tottenham with Israel... because they think Tottenham = Jewish, and Jewish = Israel?? Because it doesn't!

... and by the same token - and just as secretly, deep down... is it not the same reason that everyone outside the club seems to genuinely have a hatred for Tottenham?!

If it's got to the point that calling someone Greedy is deemed a byword for being Jewish (and therefore anti-Semitic) by the club, then we really DO have a problem here!

Levy IS a greedy, money making bastard, who HAPPENS to be Jewish, not BECAUSE of it!
...and if Donna Cullen doesn't think there's a difference between the two, then SHE has the problem... Not the fan with the banner!

To be honest, I had to same experience when I attended a couple of away games against Chelsea. A lot of the fans in the away end weren't there to watch the game, they were there just to shout abuse - a lot of it racist, homophobic - with some aimed at our own players. I even remember being at an away game at Anfield where they continuously called Lewis Holby a Nazi; and Hitler youth and he ended up pleading with them to stop.

I'm just not sure that anything Daniel Levy has done could or should be described as anything other than "good businessman". As a business enterprise his leadership of Tottenham Football Club ltd has been pretty faultless. It's not "greedy".

The problem is the lack of trophies. And it's a massive fucking problem. But his "job" for Enic has been to deliver a self-sustaining profitable "Brand" and none of us would have a problem with anything he's done if it wasn't for the fact we've won fuck all.

So he's a failure at that for sure. But "greedy"? If he was siphoning funds out of the Club like the Glazers do then I'd agree. But he doesn't. So I don't. 🤷‍♂️

And I think that is why the term "greedy" becomes problematic in this context. "Failure" (at winning trophies - for us the most, if not only, important metric) would be more accurate.

Pretty good article to support my thoughts on it for football as well.

But if I was a gay pro footballer seeing how much money is in the sport from the middle east, I wouldn't come out until I'd retired either. You'd be throwing away any chance you had of very sweet payday at the end of your career.
