I know it’s Bayern but I’d question any player that wouldn’t want to play in the PL right now. It’s where it’s at. The level is unbelievably high in most of the top games, champions league level. I know Kane went there but that’s different. While we are a big draw, so is the league (and of course London’s Romanian restaurants).

I was thinking about this earlier... Were entering an era where as an age-group a lot of these young players don't remember a time when EPL wasn't king....... 10-15 years ago La Liga was still the place to be, Klopp was a thorn in Bayern's side and Juve were still flying the flag as a the main power in Serie A and Europe.......

Good that we have finally got that 2nd CB signing. Hopefully he fits in well. We were desperate due to the injuries we all could see might happen in the Summer.

Genoa done some great scouting work. Signed him for 4m and selling for 30m just 6 months later. Hopefully he is another Paratici Juventus Special.

So, the question I have here, is why were we offering 75% less than Bayern?

Surely his agent will have told us what Bayern's salary offer was?

Saying that I'm glad we didn't budge and offer him stupid money to come because of the threat of Bayern.
Because throwing a high salary at young unproven players is a bad idea for all involved (unless the player only cares about money).

If the player fails, now he’s stuck at the club rotting in the reserves because other clubs can’t afford the salary. Can’t imagine that makes for a happy player. Look at ndombele. He might have been able to pick his move if he’d had a lower salary.

If the player succeeds, salary gets bumped to the initial level it would have been at or above and everyone’s happy.

They offered 75% more, which does not equate to our offer being 75% less. Our offer is 57.14% of what Bayern's was. 42.86% less. I love maths. 🙂

The other thing is that we've just given Sarr and Udog new contracts, better reflecting their contribution. Would not suprise me if Levy had said the same to Dragu - i.e. perform for a year and we will give you more money. Appreciate he's starting much higher than Sarr etc, but without knowing the detail we can't know if it's truly a 1 or 1.75 type situation over the life of the contract.

Don't doubt that PL plus Ange is worth a lot of the delta tho.

Yes, the failure of PSG and Barca has left the State Football Club of Real Madrid as the Prem's only real rival. Bayern pay a lot, but are a bit pony.

First of all -
Not true. He started EVERY SINGLE game in Serie B for Genoa last season.
Thats right- he played senior football for whole season without missing a single game.

Sure, Serie B is not Premier League or nowhere close, but it is not U18 league either.
Across Serie B, Serie A so far this season, Italian Cup games and his international games, he has 75 games from Aug 2022 to now. If you ask me, that might rather be too much rather than too little.

Second of all -
On top of that he has 13 senior caps for Romania.
Out of which 10 (!) were EURO2024 qualifiers.
From which they got ZERO DEFEATS from 10 games
Radu played 90 games in ALL of those
They kept 6 (!) clean sheets, conceded 1x in 3 games and only one time conceded 2 goals
As a result they topped their group and secured place in EURO2024 with some buffer

Sure, the group was not the strongest - they beat Switzerland, Israel, Belarus, Kosovo and Andorra, but you also have to keep in mind, he is 21 yo which is very young for CB.

Third of all -
Well, read again first two points for a start.
And then think, if that is not promising for a young centerback?
And then think, if he goes through whole season in Serie B, then Serie A, Euro qualifiers and Euro2024 tournament and keeps up such performance levels... what would his price be then?
I would assume we are talking about at least 50 mil.
So I'd say we snapped up very promising CB as soon as we could.

Fourth of all -

It is not all about Ange judgement. It was Paratici who initially was behind his transfer to Juventus.
He has been aware of his career,
developement, charecter and everything for 4,5 years now.
He has also been behind signings from Serie A like... Vicario, Udogie, Romero, Bentancur, Kulusevski.

If those four points don't give you confidence, I don't know what does.
None of that guarantees that he will be a major success for us. These things are never really granted.
But there are LOTS of reasons to be optimistic in my view :) .

Cracking post... I appreciate the research. 👊👊👊

Real Madrid aren't Spain's "State Football Club" in any sense of the word, however much people in England cling desperately to the idea.

We could start with the fact that both our king, Felipe VI, and president, Pedro Sánchez, are both lifelong Atleti fans (as is the mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida).
