The VAR we have is not the product of some mistaken choice somewhere along the line, it is the organic result of the bad incentives that are INHERENT and INEVITABLE in creating the capacity for subsequent video review of refereeing decisions.![]()
VAR: Uefa calls leagues to summit over 'microscopic' video assistant referees
Europe's top leagues are summoned to a meeting with Uefa to discuss how VAR technology is being used.www.bbc.co.uk
This could be swings and roundabouts.
1. I think the “very high bar” in Premier League for interventions could be removed, or alternatively
2. Referees decision remains even more paramount and referees will stop have to stop relying on VAR as they will only intervene in the most serious of cases.
3. Premier League may be forced to get in line with rest of world in respect of handballs.
No more as it is now, one set of interpretations that the Premier League Use, and one everywhere else use and IFAB want.
Reform whatever you want, that incentive structure will lead you right back to the exact same place.
Out, OUT, OUT!
