Doherty, Hojbjerg, Bergwijn, fucking Gedson, Richarlison, Solanke, Johnson, Emerson, Werner.
Just a few off the top my head who when linked with them hardly anyone here was keen on. Why? Because we knew they were not good enough to improve the squad, and arguably, would make it worse.
If we can see it, the club's operations can see it. We haven't taken a punt on a world class player since Ndombele, and while that didn't work out, you have to try again.
A big club half-assing it for years now is getting it's just desserts.
Your point was about the difficulty in getting high grade players, not who we have bought, hence my question, which you say you cannot answer.
I am only saying it's very difficult, and unlike some I don't believe just offering more money would bring those high grade players to us.
I think we are going to be mid-table at best for a while, whether we stay up, or return within a couple of years.
