Thing is all our forwards are shite on the break too. Our best players for that type of system were Son, Johnson and maybe Odobert? All the guys we have left just don't seem capable of playing any kind of coherent style or system tbh.We didn't try that under Frank. I don't even know what it was, but it wasn't that. We didn't play on the break. We either passed to Kudus or hoofed it up.
We have Danso and Drag who can play in that system. And just being hard to beat instead of leaving ourselves open constantly, like today, gives us a far better chance of staying up. Playing this football with Conor Gallagher and Palinha on the pitch at the same time is a complete juxtaposition.
Has felt like the writing's on the wall for a while - I don't think De Zerbi was the answer short term but given the composition of what's left of the squad and our broken mentality, I think almost any manager woud've failed
The rot runs too deep.
