Yes but the KPI for both Sunderland and their supporters was staying in the EPL ; if you could have guaranteed they finish 17th before a ball was kicked; they’d have bitten your hand off . They’ve surpassed their expectations by being sensible and competent wrt to achieving their realistic goals .
We haven’t.
We were a well run business.ENIC need the club in the premier league. If not they’ll be bleeding money as the name doesn’t get the recognition anymore. They wanted £3b to sell, now they’ll be lucky to get anything more than £700m when they’re in the championship.
We are we all run business, not football club. But going down makes us an unattractive business which is what ENIC, and only ENIC, deserve.
All he's ever really cared about
The problem is that we sign players based on their expected wages, resale value, and market opportunity, not because they're a good fit for the manager or would work well with the current squad. Ange needed a GK who's good with his feet and got Vicario, and he needed a winger who's good in build up and got Johnson. Frank needed a replacement for Son, so we bought Tel, who was objectively bad during his loan spell. Frank desperately needed a LB and winger in January, so we brought in a teenage LB and sold Johnson while buying Gallagher, who was available for a cheap price. Was thinking this today.
We seem to have signed a collection of players who are quite specifically suited to certain styles. The problem is, all of them are different styles that clash with everyone around them.
Maybe a consequence of flip flopping on managerial styles, or just utterly incompetent scouting.
Let's face it, it's probably both.
Good riddance. There are many higher factors at play than him as to our current situation but his attitude over the last 3 or so years feels like its set the tone with a lot of these players......and we made him captain. Getting relegated and then making sure he's back for the world cup is the perfect ending to his time with us.
That'll be him done in a Spurs shirt. That Romero news is the best we’ve had in weeks - worst captain in our history and an absolute liability, I simply cannot wait until he is gone
My mate who’s a Sunderland season ticket holder yesterday said we the first team he’s seen who look scared to make a tackle and we’re weak as piss. If thats not an indication the players have given up I don’t know what is
Your getting him confused with Cliff Richard
I’ve got a drill he can borrow, not sure he will find much in there though
Christmas of what year though ?Yeah but a five week injury diagnosed by our medics...he'll probably be out till Christmas?
We could if we made them play with both legs tied together.
