Player Richarlison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Nice one. I'd still argue he's been playing in a (mostly) terrible side not making the most of his profile, but that's purely an argument re the stats. In terms of overall assessment yeah, we need an upgrade for sure.

Super Pav's numbers there - 1 goal per 2.7 games. Not too shabby in the context of a limited player. Remember we were meant to be in for Arshavin and when he went to the scum it was like, well we've got to deliver a Russian now 😂
People moan abour Richies pace, but Pav looked like he was running in treacle.

Because he had the opportunity. People quickly turned on him in the seasons we didn't do too well. There's fickleness to it.

Harry Kane is one of the best English players to have played the game, but you can't guarantee he'd have hit the same levels if we'd sold him to Hull or West Brom.

We're still talking about a player that has scored pretty consistently for us despite having worse service than a McDonalds drive through
Both Son and Kane were elite finishers on top of the rest they offered. Son in particular might be the deadliest finisher the league has ever seen based on shot/goal ratio. I believe he was the most lethal at one point late in his tenure with us but I can’t be bothered to fact check now.

Sure, Richy would score a few more if he had Kane pinging balls to him or Son whipping a cross into the danger area. But there isn’t a world where he is on the level those two are/were on.

Son wasn't always that way. You hear professionals talk about this with respect to loans - you have to get time in a position before you can hone your craft in it.
People seem to think ability is a drop-in thing.

Was exactly the same with people writing off Kinsky and saying he was hopeless and a terrible shot-stopper because he was dumped in for one game out of nowhere on a dodgy pitch

Presently sitting 7th in the league for g/a per 90 minutes. His replacement for Brazil two places behind him.

Not available enough to be someone we can build around. Slower than old folk fucking. Often traps the ball twenty feet. But he scores and assists at a very acceptable rate for a team in the bottom four.

He was never going to be Kane, but the hate he gets on here is astonishing.

Don't be so fucking................level headed.
That's not who we are.
Mate.

Son had a 17% conversion rate for Leverkusen the year before he joined us which is significantly higher than average. He had a tough first season with us and then went absolutely nuclear year after year.

I want Richy leading our line out of the options we have but I think it’s a bit silly to be comparing him to two of the greats this league has seen.

Don't do it then?

The point was that he could have been as good as Son under Poch.
He's already been doing double-digit seasons (or, as per last, that ratio) in the shittest seasons we've had for decades, so I don't think it's too far fetched to think that he could be getting 15-17 goals and more assists if we had anyone of quality around him.

Just to reiterate that - are we actually aware here we're talking about a guy who has 11 goals and 5 assists this season, when we had basically no functioning wingers or creative midfield all season???

I never was.

Son and Richarlison are the antithesis of each other as players. Son is a pacy, tricky winger who is as two-footed as they come, can score belters from anywhere on the pitch, finishes everything.

Richarlison is a workhorse who gets the vast majority of his goal contributions by finding soft areas of the penalty area and converting.

What you describe about better players = more stats is a fallacy seen in sports all of the time. There are many other outcomes that are as likely if not more that could happen if we had better wingers.

personally I think it's astonishing he has got 15 or so G+A in this side, as our top scorer and 3rd highest assister, and yet is taking the bullets instead of praise - especially when he has to do it all alongside RKM suffocating the attack

Its not silly its boarder line insane. The simple eye test told any experienced watcher of the game before the Statistics obsession. Son was an elite world level talent that took a year to settle in, his attributes pace touch shooting off BOTH feet and above all temperament and personality is that very rare confluence of stars that align to make super stars. Richarlison whist not a bum...is Chris Woods a decent rough edged competitor, its like comparing Troy Deneey with KDB

I had an opposing fan say to me the other day that he thinks Spurs actually woke up a bit late to how good Son was, possibly Kanes shadow. He said a better coach could have developed Son prime sooner and far more effectively than Spurs did. He was United and said he thought he could have got near CR7 levels.

I can't endure another season of this bumbling oaf, regardless of the division. He is horrific. The first touch of a sledgehammer; always on the floor, theatrics. That header summed him up. Fuck me.
