Player Richarlison

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

He scored a hat trick against a team that sound like a Sea World attraction.

Let’s see how he’s doing in December.

Every single season fans from every PL club read far too much in to pre season games and they never, ever learn from this.

He might be great, might not. Good luck to him. I’m not reading a single thing in to a scruffy hat-trick against borderline amateurs who somehow conceded when 4on1 from a long throw.

Scores a hat trick and this is the response.

If he doesn’t score then he’s shit.

So can’t win 🤷‍♂️
Rooting for him but after last season, I’m skeptical that hat trick means much given competition. It doesn’t mean I (and I assume all/most of us) am not rooting for him - and it’s not personality, it’s opponent level and performance last season. My skepticism extends to LoCelso as well as Son.

The only thing we have to take out if pre season is how the players react to Ange’s system and right now they seem to be taking to it well. Massive positives to take out both games against two teams at the polar opposite of ability but we still played the same way and didn’t venture from what has been asked of the players to do. Some players will thrive in it and some will struggle.
A hatrick for richy against poor opposition doesn’t make him a world beater but it might just kickstart his career here. I’m not convinced because I don’t think he’s a very good player but he might just be very effective in the striker role in this system.
As for guys like Perisic and Lo Celso, these guys have fantastic ability and look really suited to how we are going to play so it would be crazy to let them go just now. Trying to fit those two into a counter attacking team makes no sense. Out then in a possession based, quick front foot side and they will thrive.

It’s all about confidence to me.

He knows last year was a mess. The £60 mill price tag weighs on him. He wants to succeed here.

If he’s banging in goals during preseason, hopefully the momentum continues into the season.

Richy also should've had 4. That header from Lo Celso was definitely onside. Linesman in the mud.

What are the expectations for him this season?

Doesn’t look like a player who can deliver goals, unfortunately. No composure in front of goal and technically erratic. He runs around a bit but he’s hardly an incredible presser. Seems to be prone to injury too.

Surely we have to sign a new striker if Kane leaves?

I think his use this season will be to come off the bench and keep the energy level of the team up. That's assuming Kane stays. I don't think he'll ever be more than a squad player here, unless Levy stitches Ange up and sells Kane at the last minute.

Honestly if Kane stays I think we should look at selling him. He'll essentially have 2 seasons without any regular first team football in that case.

If Kane stays, I think we look to sell Richarlison.

In Conte's system, you could argue for him starting as one of the wide players in a rotation.

In Ange's system, where the wide players are instructed to stay wide rather than cut inside, I don't think he fits at all. For Ange, I think he's a CF or nothing. And if Kane stays, he'll get a few minutes off the bench and become increasingly frustrated.

In terms of squad balance, selling Richarlison would give us money to invest in another CB, which is where we obvioulsy still need strenghtening the most.

If he's starting striker. I'd expect 15 league goals.

If he's not, a perfectly reasonable goals per 90 ratio. I'll be happy with double digits in all comps. We all would.

Your entire existence appears to be futile but I actually think Richarlison has more chance of improving than you do.

I’ll give him that chance.
