And even if he isn't perfect his performance today shows that the attacking system needs an actual 9 to work rather than a winger like Son is.

We need a classic box poacher that can play a bit of hold up play and just focus on tapping it in.

Until we fix the wingers and chance creation.... It's not gonna matter a great deal.

Unless the oppo are stretched they can just gang up on a big man and take him out of the game.

You guys were right, the Saudi league is his level.

Jesus mate he's done nothing for ages, he came in and scored a goal against a Liverpool team who were bringing on Bajcetic and Gomez and had their recliners out. There are better players in the Saudi League than him already.

Could he do a job elsewhere? Yeah, he'd start for most mid-table PL outfits and do a job. He's below a Watkins but above a Wood. Good for him.

Why didn’t he play from the start. Bizarre.

By the same token I didn't understand why he was subbed off against Chavski either.

We spend the whole 1st half struggling to create anything, but what's the first thing we try to do when we foster some vague semblance of improvement on the wings? ......We start pinging crosses in for his replacement - Sonny; a guy with virtually no penalty box presence.

:ange-facepalm:

If we can’t get decent fee I’d keep him as rotation rather than play Son at CF (only on the proviso it doesn’t mean we can’t bring in another CF).

He’s starting to do a conte and not play to anyone’s strengths. I’m so bored of these seasons. I still haven’t paid for my two season tickets yet and although I will I’m not sure how much longer I can do it. They’ll lose me soon. Not that they give a fuck of course.

I wonder if a season ticket for the Players Lodge might be a slightly cheaper, more appealing option......... Looks pretty pucka for a few 5star weekends away each year.

He played really well when he came on I thought and was the biggest reason the scoreline looked a lot less diabolical at the end. We all know his limits. But just having someone who can run in behind and had a bit of a presence made such a big difference today. We really should be looking at Ivan Toney who also can do both of these things but will score more goals.

The reason we improved when he came on was because he was actually able to make the ball stick in the final third and we were able to actually create more chances. Son was never going to make that happen.

He's now on 11 goals with 1500 minutes played and is overperforming on xG. Watkins has had double the minutes.
