Very tight, for me Keane just about edges Defoe out. Can't say exactly why. Think some of his best moments were slightly more memorable for me than Defoe's.

Football wise Keane, just about. Magic partnership with Berbatov and overall I'd say - just - that we got a bit more out of him. JD got better later on but I remember being frustrated with him in his early days.

Personality wise JD easily, the 'boyhood club' comments about Liverpool from Keane left a sour taste. I'd say JD is one of my 'favourite' ever Spurs players if we're going on that.

Just came across as arrogance to me, his persona was as if he was the biggest player on te pitch and the way he celebrated goals was all a bit Beckham.....thought he could have shown some humility

I kind of liked his guile and arrogance, we were mostly bad when Keane was with us so it was a nice change to have a player who would not roll over for the opposition.

JD's contribution to us will - rightly - be overshadowed now by his charity work. Incidentally a friend of a friend bumped into him and said he was very nice, which I believe completely.

Keane for me.

I bet Keane's biggest regret is ever going/pushing for a move to Liverpool. Without that he'd be a legend at Spurs I think.

Always rated Defoe as well, but as a player he was a bit limited.

Keano for me. That partnership with Berbatov :dierno:

Am I right in remembering that horrendous summer when we lost them both...only to get Frazier Campbell on loan in return :pochshock:

Keane was probably the better player overall although defoe was never as poor consistently as Keane was when he rejoined

A bit off subject, but when he came back Keane just could not get going ( and the Dublin incident finished him under Harry ) it was incredibly sad to see him punted around on loan to shit like Wet Ham. Did anything ever really come out about why he failed at Liverpool and what was wrong with him when he came back ?

Keano much better player overall, but the whole Liverpool left a sour taste in my mouth. So I picked Defoe due to his love for the club.

If I recall Defoe was running down his contract and it was a refusal to commit to new terms that was ultimately the reason he went to Portsmouth.

Not at all sure why that makes him less of a villain than Keane. Not that either should really be seen as “villains”
