Management Roberto De Zerbi

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The club have appointed De Zerbi to a long term contract, knowing that the squad decimated by injuries and likely heading for the Championship will need to be rebuilt (certainly if we go down).

How anyone can expect to see an immediate improvement after just two weeks in charge is beyond me.

De Zerbi has no doubt discussed the fragility of the squad, drawn up a plan should we go down, and would have agreed a transfer policy moving forward.

It's fucking obvious that with a decimated squad, whichever manager came in would be working in very difficult circumstances, and if anything is "bizarre" about the situation it's that you think there's a magical formula to fixing a twenty five year issue in just three months.

I don't think its anything more than wishful thinking and hope that a new manager can get us of this quagmire we found ourselves in.

Waffle..... Outside of the last 12-ish months; through all those 25 years we never remotely faced the genuine threat of relegation. Up until recently we'd become characterized as a club routinely falling excruciatingly short of winning trophies (before ironically finally winning one).

You primarily cite a "decimated squad" - Again; how is that a "25 year issue" either?

Turning on De Zerbi after ONE game is dumb as fuck though; I'll concur there.

I dont believe the mental/confidence line he is peddling. I know he's not gonna come out and say "yeah these lot are shit" but that is the reality.

We barely have a PL level attack.

Richarlison, Solanke and Muani is a proper fraud group of CFs. Beyond that you are just hoping for Tel or Xavi do to bring some energy when they get on but 99% of the time they do fuck all.

Bergvall is not a 10 and is just back from injury. We have no wingers.

I think the Kudus injury was the final nail in the coffin.

You cannot win games if your attackers pose no threat.
Why are t we then trying just play high energy pressing game. Try to make the oppo make mistakes and win the ball high up. You’d think with that midfield 3 we would have done that. However when they had the ball all our 11 were deep in our own half yet still never stopped them getting ball out wide and putting in crosses. Go back to basics. We should been trying to get wide and put balls into box.

I hope we don't play 3 forwards anymore. Playing 3 forwards doesn't mean we can score goals. Just put one forward and overload the midfield with 5 players there so we can overturn any loose ball nearer to their goal. Play Tel and Xavi to support the forward. Sarr, Bergvall and Gray as the other 3. These 3 can rotate their functions among themselves. I really think they need more time together but no manager is giving them the time.

I don't know who to play in the CF role. Every single one of them is shit. I will choose between Richy and Muani. Solanke can do shit. Let him come on if we are by some miracles leading he can play with less pressure.

By doing what any other competent manager does in that situation. They resign knowing that a better job is right around the corner. He wont give a toss.

It is far from inconceivable that this happens.

The only party locked in is us......

On a 2yr deal sacking in the summer (or any time soon) was still a tangible expense..... A 60m quid commitment on top of the massive financial hit that relegation equates to is a different matter.

Theres no way De Zerbi stays to slum around in a league he doesn't deserve to be in. That league requires the knowledge of someone whos been in and around it before.
Does it really though? At the end of the day its football 11v11 which makes a change from the PL where its often 11v12 & VAR , but if we are being honest surely having a Top manager like RDZ would mean we would have an advantage over the other teams, even Thomas Frank managed to do alright down there, I'm not saying we will bounce straight back up as that is stupid to say, however as a club we should be using our financial advantage to give us every advantage possible

Everyone seems to be going over the top with the performance at the weekend but people need to remember that was just a couple of hours of one day!

By all accounts they really enjoyed training last week and happiness in work and life is what really matters. This gives me comfort to remember.

Hope they are having fun this week too. Be nice to see a social media video about it.

Resign and giving up £60m yeah? lol

I'll have whatever you're smoking mate
Thats fine. Its just an opinion thats all.

We’ll see wont we lol being down there hinders him progressing as a top manager. And i dont believe he will have a bar of the champo.
People think he was hired to build a project for 5 years. He wasnt. He has been hired by these cretins in hope that it would make a statement of getting a last ditch reaction out of these players as obviously the “interim” thing clearly wasnt working was it?
Essentially its another panic decision they hope will pay off. And im not saying im not happy we have De Zerbi here, he is probably the best we could have got right now, but it very well could be all too late now.
