Romero will. He has a WC to his CV and long time admirers. Plus he's missed half the season!

VDV I'm not so sure about. He's been one of the ones who this season reflects on worst in my opinion. You're prob right that someone big will take the gamble but it's not going to be the bidding war it might have once been.

I think he will go to Liverpool.

I think he will go to Liverpool.

At least if it's them we should be able to rinse them for a pretty big fee. There are only a few big clubs that can/will realistically pay premium for him and they're probably top of the list.
Yeah that's probably his best shout in this country but if he thinks their fickle fans will tolerate the standard he's set this season, then he'll be walking alone pretty soon.

Of all the players, he's the one that I'm most gutted about this season. I thought we had a real gem who could lead this club for years. It's been proper gutting to watch his fall this season.

Yeah but you will have to convince them a bit.

They may be under contract but we'll need players happy to be here if we wanna get straight back up.

Got to say I don't see any issue, especially if they see some of the destabilisers leaving.

But in truth they will still be part of and not necessarily the key core of a team/squad designed to get out of the Championship.

Potential they may have. Top players they aren't as yet, obviously. So let's not assume the aforementioned players would be doing us a favour. That's why we are here arguably, with the likes of Romero, Van De Ven and maybe even Spence and Porro.

Yes, I do and limited as he is, he's one of the few players we have available that can create something. I don't like him at all as a player btw, but beggars can't be choosers.
He's not created anything though, his end product is non existent. The 3 up top has been a large reason we've been so shit, we don't have any good enough wide players to play it, it's literally like playing with 9 men. Toothless with 3 up top and it weakens the midfield, its just such a dumb tactic with this group of players.

There's a reason Tel was behind Odobert....and he's not exactly great either is he.

Absolutely. They may only be potential but surrounded by positive attitudes they're likely to thrive.

The clear out has to be the ones who there is no hope for. Sadly it's a long list and it'll take a few windows.

Unless we accept the loss on some players.

Whether we go down or not the squad needs an overhaul, out of necessity and not just for the sake of it.

Much as I do mot for a second accept that our players are as bad as 100 plus, non-Covid19 days without a win (and counting), there is no doubt it's got losing as part of its DNA. When the players wash their kit must leave dirty loser marks on the drum. If it doesn't it should.

Losing for us has become a belief system, for player and fan alike, and if we were to retain too many of this squad and lose a couole of games you wonder what impact that might have. Spiral right there. We can't afford to ever see such a sequence again.

Time to clear a fair whack of this particular group, and we already know that's going to be 6 or 7 minimum.

I wouldn't be surprised if he returns back to a higher level, he's mentally checked out just like a lot of our players are and playing in a shit team, they're always gonna look shit.

What's your solution then?

Play no fwds?

Were you happy with the front 3 vs Sunderland?

I think the days of a big fee or very much over. He's bad at the fundamentals of defending. He's just fast. I think we'll get ~50-60m for him, which isn't a huge amount more than we paid for him.
