Really? I knew he'd trigger Windy but Id have taken him over Frank and wanted Iraola over Wank. Supprised he had that many serious critics.
They do give off a revenge of the nerds vibe dont they? Like they were always picked last and want to find a way to control the game off the pitch since they couldn't get on it.The spurs tacticos/football manager players wouldn’t have it though would they?
No matter how many times the idiots, who’ve never kicked a ball in their lives, were told. Our best periods of the season have occurred with both of them on the pitch at the same time.
He wanted to leave Marseille and after getting spanked by PSG they wanted him gone.I do genuinely think the timing made it v.hard to get De Zerbi right after Frank.
He had a really deep connection with Marseille and the fans there. If he'd walked straight into the Spurs job I think he would've felt like he was betraying them as it would appear premeditated. Not to mention I think he wanted a little break as Marseillie is fucking mental.
Maybe we could've pushed harder/offered more or waited 2-3 weeks to give De Zerbi more time but imagine the press and uncertainty of Spurs being managerless for that long.
Tudor was a disaster ofc but I really dont think it was quite as simple as just throwing more money at De Zerbi in Feb.
We'll never know all the details but from reading around the Marseille stuff and De Zerbi's quotes on the matter it wasn't as as straightforward as you're making out. De Zerbi himself has literally said he refused to come sooner for that reason and I think there's some degree of truth in that. Managers don't often walk out of extremely emotional, stressful jobs and directly into another smouldering binfire within the space of a week - usually there's a cool down period. He wanted to leave Marseille and after getting spanked by PSG they wanted him gone.
Absolutely no way he wouldn't have come when we were in a far better position back then (as in less likely to get relegated). Had we given him what he wanted he would have come imo...even if we had to wait until after the Gooner scum game.
It's a mental disorder at this stage.
That fucking dipshit systematically destroyed any confidence this club had to win games.
We're currently, still facing an existential threat to the very fabric of the club, and we're only 1 point away from equally our points tally from last season with 3 games to spare.
We cannot lose as many games as we lost last season.
It's taken 3 replacement managers to undo the damage caused.
And still there's fucking morons that share the air with us, trying to defend him.
Why people insist on putting Harry Redknapp in lists next to actual Tottenham legends maddens me.
The guy has zero affinity for us.
I always saw Jol as the catalyst for that era.Redknapp was the origin of our best era. Managed youth players better than any manager in my living memory. Gave us Gareth Bale when any other manager would have bombed him out. Modric. Put faith in Kane, Townsend and others. He made us CL regulars.
Ultimately, he's a bit of a tit and his arrogance was his undoing, but without Harry Redknapp there is no top 4, no Bale, no Modric era, and very likely no Kane.
Their loyalty is quite astonishing and slightly frightening. He was clearly part of the rot RDZ is attempting to cut out. Yes the Europa was nice, im sure Villa fans will enjoy it ..but it wasn't worth this no way.
Maddison will make a difference.Great to see he has got players doing the simple things that just haven't been there for ages , filling spaces and giving options , pressing in packs , making quick decisions .
Still some bad habits but huge improvements .
If he can get this after 4 weeks imagine what he can do next season if we stay up and he can get the 3/4 ins that he wants .
Really, I just don't believe the core of that shit is spurs fans.
100%. We looked far better coached yesterday than we have for ages. He’s laid down principles, players getting tighter to stop crosses was another big one I noticed with Porro in particular. Leeds will be an interesting game, let’s see some more improvement!Great to see he has got players doing the simple things that just haven't been there for ages , filling spaces and giving options , pressing in packs , making quick decisions .
I said months ago that this was one of our biggest issues, particularly when people were digging out Simons. You can be the most creative passer on Earth, but if there's no proper movement ahead of you, you'll look like a lower league plodder. The biggest difference was the movement of all the outfield players to create a passing angle for whoever was on the ball. This was the complete opposite to what was happening at the start of the year. Don't know if that by by instruction or just player apathy but it makes all the difference in the world.
