You're going back a long way to find metrics like that for us against Chelsea at the Bridge.

It's up to you of course, but I'm getting behind the manager.

Get behind him all you want. If he picks the same starting 11 it's going to be the same performance and outcome. And thats a chelsea side that's not won in 5 or 6 games and low on confidence btw and we still couldn't get a result. We're not talking about peak Jose chelsea here. If you put up their subs pictures majority of clubs fans wouldn't have a fucking clue what their names were. And I'm betting that xg went up exponentially once his preffered starting 11 got changed (after we'd already fucked the game up)which is what my original team selection point was all about.

Regrettably; this WAS us having a go....... Injury has deprived the squad of all it's cutting edge. We're a blunt instrument aside from a brief cameo from Maddison.

We completely controlled the final 10 minutes. Kept winning the ball back. Kept probing. Field tilt is all us.

Like you say - we just have no cutting edge. Really missed Romero/Kudus types in that situation. Or you know - a World Class LWF like the one we sold last summer...

I think we have to throw caution to the wind a bit here and start Maddison. try and get a good half out of him where we start on the front foot and hopefully get a lead.

We had considerably better xG than Chelsea before the subs.

But fine - you do you mate. We all deal with this situation in our own ways. I'm going with the guy who has us earning points after 6 months of us barely earning one.

But less goals why???? Because he isn't brave enough to not play Tel Muani. Like I said there's more available to him than 433.

Doesn't matter what formation or personel we play, we're fucked either way
Playing those players in those positions consistently when they keep playing like that is absurd to me. 433 is not the way to get the most out of the team imo. Im not interested in xg I'm interested in results. Something that's been a big problem for a lot longer than just the previous 2 disastrous seasons.

Where's the guarantee that playing a different formation would get results?

That's EXACTLY the kind of thinking that got us into this fucking mess.

Without the former you will never get the latter with this current group. We aren't Forest last year. Our defence (our strongest line by a considerable distance) is set up to control possession and build from the back. Frank went away from that and it was fucking disastrous.

Have you learned nothing from the first 10 months of this season?

Baffling

Can't believe some people are doubting him or saying there's not much clear improvement - given our injuries and completely broken mentality the step up over the last month is absolutely miraculous. We looked utterly dead and buried before he arrived.

We look like a solid, well coached team now. We're vastly more comfortable on the ball than we ever looked under Frank or Tudor.

The problem is so so clearly the personnel not the manager atm. Take 6 of the best forwards out of any team in the league and they'd look toothless and flaky up top. Given our injuries it's surprising we can even put out a front line of internationals (even if they're all a bit annoying and shit) - most teams would be forced to play youth players if they had this many injuries.

If you actually give De Zerbi a few competent forwards and a more technically proficient midfield we'd look a proper side. He's done very well with the cards he's been dealt.
