Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I thought our Roberto was fantastic today especially 1st half. His touch and build up play was immense. He is clearly lacking in confidence infront of goal at the moment and this happens to the best strikers. If there's 1 player I want to score against Fulham Wednesday then it's Soldado. We play like today then the goals will flow from him, keep the faith boys!!!

If he can't score against Fulham ( the Prems. worst side ) who the hell can he score against ?
When you think what we have spent on 7 new players versus what the scum bags down the road spent on one, and what improvement he has made in their results and performances it is shocking.
If Soldado fails again to have any impact on the game on Wednesday you have to ask exactly how long can AVB go on picking him to start games ? Add to this the fact that our record signing ( Lamela ) does not even figure in most games ( obviously AVB doesn't fancy him at all and for good resaon ) and the January window can't come too soon. When Kane is fit he must be given a chance as one thing is certain he can't do any worse than Solado ! I reckon there is only one place in the top 4 to go for now as three sides look certainties for their places there.

Give Ade a start vs. Fulham. He looks fit and sharp, brings a lot more to the table than JD, and will hopefully spur Soldado on to get it together if he puts in a good performance.

I'm not sure what else the guy can be doing to be honest. He's not getting the chances so is frustrated, which was evident when he went and booted the hoardings after the miss v United. His first-touch and passing is top-notch though, he's created a lot for us even if he's not scoring too many (yadda yadda yadda strikers are judged on goals blah blah blah).

Whenever we bring Defoe on in games we just don't look threatening any more, he was awful against United in his 20 minutes. Think the difference in styles between Defoe & Ade and Soldado is that Soldado tends to stay central on the shoulder of the last man, Defoe and Ade both drift out to the wings so although they get more involved they're never where they need to be when it comes into the box.

Tough call but i'd stick with Soldado for now.

yeah, I wouldn't have said he was awful but you could just tell our goal threat pretty much evaporated when he came on. It's pretty much signalled the end of the game every time we have bought him on in the league. If we bring someone on it might as well be someone who will have an impact rather than just hold the ball up. In my mind having someone who can head the ball would be a useful option then we can start pumping late crosses in (though we have no one who can cross).

Need to un-invert the wingers for starters, that's probably been the most ineffective part of our system so far. Don't have the stats to hand but how many of our goals have come from our wingers so far, who are supposedly meant to be cutting in and shooting?

Depends whether you cound Siggy as a winger he's had a few so I guess we cant really argue it isn't working. Plus Townsends freak cross goal. But yeah, Townsends crossing on his left foot yesterday were pretty ineffective, Lennon did a couple across the 6 yard box (but no one was there) and Kyle put in a couple over hit ones. Pretty much no crosses coming in from the left. :baletroll:

I just don't think he's going to repay your investment. Might as well get negrado, im pretty sure come the end of the season he will have more goals.
is that because he is a better striker or because of the system used look at city yesterday four supporting players in the box gives him room time and space you dont become poor overnight:windy:

In all honesty , Getting a bit tired of talking up his hold up n movement out there. It has been strong , but at the end of the day , he is judged on his goal production.

And that effort vs United when clear on goal....I think I laughed out tears. One of those moments

I agree, if he plays against Fulham he will score I reckon!

Pretty much agree. Couldn't work out afterwards whether he was angry at himself, or at whoever supplied the pass for over-hitting it. I'm inclined to go with the former, which is good because at least it shows he's as fucked off as we are.

Thought he thrived off having Paulinho near him, both had good games on Sunday, first half especially. His first touch passing is fantastic as is his running the channel (though that doesn't happen very often), only criticism I have at the moment (outside of goals) is he's a little bit lax when he has his back to a defender, maybe it was because he was up against Vidic on Sunday who is about as combative as they come in the PL, but he just hasn't quite got that upper body strength to hold off the CB. I know thats never been his game but i'd like to see him come toward the ball rather than attempting to hold off the CB more often than not. Goals wise they will come. Never doubt that, still think he'll get 20 in the PL this season:soldadowatch:
5 against Fulham would be nice:bmj:
