Roberto Soldado

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Something was up with him this week, doubtless his personal circumstances. In the pre-match warm up against Stoke he was doing shooting practice, and only had 10% on target.

Looking forward to the moment he finds his mojo though, I think he'll become a goal machine.

He's going to come good. His link up play with Ade has been very encouraging. Just needs to shank a few in and the goals will flow! At least that is what I'm telling myself...

His first half was his best 45 mins he's played for us. He knew when to come wide, come deep, used the wide men well.

The goals will come. He got into great positions and I am truly looking forward to him celebrating his goal vs the scum on Saturday

Can't complain with his work-ethic and link play BUT he's really got to start putting away these chances he's now getting. If Defoe had missed them he'd be getting absolutely lambasted.

True, but Soldado contributes rather heavily in build-up play, very much unlike Defoe. Despite all of Soldado's misses, he's still a very useful player on the pitch.

Don't get me wrong...I love Bobby and think him a great acquisition for Spurs. However, I just watched Carrie Underwood do the Sound of Music ... and then watched Bobby against Manure today ... as a result, a song sprang to mind. Here goes... (To 'Maria')

"How do you save a striker like Soldado?
How do you botch such easy open goals?
What do you call a striker like Soldado?
Nicholas Bendtner?
Wilson Palacios?
Darren Bent?"

"How do you save a striker like Soldado?
Why do you even care if he lives or dies?
Why do we love this striker called Soldado?
Is it his hair?
Is it his flair?
His frown?"

"Oh, how do you save a striker like Soldado?
I could just crush his testicles in my hand!"

"When I watch him I'm bemused,
I'm bewildered and confused.
Surely I could have scored so easily!
He's as shifty as Sep Blatter,
He's as cunning as Arse Wenger,
He could throw Jamie Rednapp under a bus.
He's as wily as Mourinho,
He's as nifty as Juninho,
He's underwhelming,
He's deceiving.
He's my man!'

"Oh how do you save a striker like Soldado?
How do you mould a new Jim-my Greaves?"

With apologies to Rogers and Hammerstein.

I'm absolutely dreading the day he misses one of these penalties.

Hopefully he gets a hat trick sometime before then.
