Had a few people blaming him earlier in the season and everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Was always a good player. Just a poor functioning team under a poor manager. He’s a class act. Even today when there was so many good performances our level dropped after he went off

He's always been a player who does everything required at a good level and has moments of pure excellence with escaping pressure. People really got on his back for being a player who doesn't break lines or pick out dangerous passes, which is fair, but it's not his game. Put him in a game like today where you need to control the midfield and don't expect him to be the next Christian Eriksen and you'll see he is gold-dust. Love the bloke.
 
Another excellent performance and he’ll be one of the main reasons we stay up. Never understood the hate but we couldn’t win a game when he’s injured an d now we have 7 pts from 9 since he’s been back. He's massive for us and will flourish under RDZ as we’ve seen so far.
 
Very capable .. BC might hate him and whilst he has limitations he’s very clearly our most all round competent central midfielder. He does the basics well. He is much more reliable than Bissouma.
 
Another good performance. Him being able to keep possession is so important to us having the ball high up the pitch as much as we did. It's no coincidence we look so much better with him back in midfield.

I'll admit I've been very harsh on him since the Ange tenure. Benta is playing as good or better than he ever has for us, suddenly. It's a welcome relief right now when we need it most.
 
The most underrated Spurs player by a distance. Our form completely drops off every time he's out injured. He's brave and demands the ball in deep positions when under pressure. Top midfielder and totally underrated. Even yesterday after he went off, we dropped off completely. With Bentancur in the team we just look so different and often dominate teams. He is the key player and the one who glues it all together.

You don't play 70 times for Uruguay being shite. He's probably not top five material but he is very effective at picking up the ball and at least trying to move it forward. I also noticed how open we looked when he went off.

He's very good at what he does. He's often been hung out to dry by playing in makeshift midfield or being used as a lone 6.

He's been criminally underrated by fans on here for a long time. When given a balanced and organised midfield then he becomes a top midfielder.

Let's not forget that Casimero looked an absolute mess when played in a makeshift midfield. We've seen Rice look bang average for England when they tried playing Trent or Mainoo beside him in a 2. We saw it time and time again with Jorgingo - he nearly won a ballon dor when he had kante beside him at Chelsea and veratti beside him for Italy. But when asked to do another role he looked absolutely useless and clueless.

Midfielders are a product of their midfield partners. A player like Busquets would have never made it in England! It's all about having the right partners around you. And when Bentancur has that Hojbjerg/Ugarte/Palihina presence beside him he becomes elite because he can focus on the best part of his game which is in possession and reading the game. If you ask him to run around covering space all game and cover for the other midfielders then he will look exposed.
