Management Ryan Mason

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If Ryan Mason secretly has the potential to be a top class manager, then comes back to his club and wins a trophy with us.. It'd be the coolest thing ever. One of the few football fairy tales.

If he was given the full time job straight from being an assistant coach, as was touted last summer. He'd be on a hiding to nothing. He'd rightly or wrongly be painted as a yes man and not ready for the job. Media and some fans would be on his case from day one.

This is the right move. Go and earn your spurs (so to speak) elsewhere.

It would be really nice if he got the job. The Belgian league is a good league to send young promising talent on loan. And Mason will know all about our potential stars.

Getting Hall, Dorrington etc a loan out there to get good first team minutes at a big Belgian club like Anderlecht would be great for their development. Get Yang out there too.

Best of luck to him, if he didn’t have potential as a coach then Conte and Ange wouldn’t have had him on the staff. The ridiculous hate he gets from some on here is totally deranged.

Managing Anderlecht was a good experience for Kompany so I hope it turns out the same for Mason.

I don't think there was so much unfounded hate for him- just a lot of recognition that he was/is a seriously junior coach showing how inexperienced and impressionable he was at various junctures. Definitely some took it too far into nasty things said and other unwarranted criticisms.

We should all be glad for him to get this opportunity though, and I personally wish him the best of luck. Hope he has started learning some Dutch already- will make it easier.
