He may not be homophobic, but the term and the way he used it certainly is. Filming it and sending it out to the masses just compounds the stupidity.

Its basically like Kane calling Winks his 'N-word'?

Doesn't make Kane racist. It would make him a little stupid but that's about it.

Aurier was stupid.

Absolutely not. Aurier wasn't using it as some term of brotherly endearment. FYI, that scenario is also unacceptable.

It's like this. Everyone knows a racist joke. Doesn't make you racist, but it doesn't change the fact it is racist.

Aurier used the term as a form of abuse. Therefore the use of the term is homphobic, even if he may not be himself.

oh what word it was CJJ

Fiotte

It's a French portmanteau of fillette and fillote.

A fillotte fillette is a "fucking girl", so can be translated as "bitch", "whore", "slut", or any number of similar insults - but the press decided to use the "faggot" one.

He used a homophobic slur as an insult in a very public manner. People are seriously trying to make excuses for that?

Hold on, who's made an excuse for him?

People have simply stated he isn't homophobic and something that's been said out of anger and stupidity shouldn't be held against a player.

Especially considering we've had someone who's made racist remarks in our ranks, someone who has criticised disabled people, a woman beater etc all of which are hailed as club legends or heroes.

Its held against Aurier because he was pictured in an Woolwich shirt. Just look at the backlash Nkoudou got for wearing a Chelsea shirt ffs.

And they were all criticised rightly at the time. No one is suggesting not forgiving Aurier, or that he can't redeem himself. But it can't be ignored either.
