What Conte was explaining very clearly was the culture at THFC.You know what about the video….
I’m still not entirely sure what he meant and I’m yet to hear or read anyone who is.
He spoke of selfish players who play for themselves rather than the team or for the pride of the club and the supporters.
Conte explained how he had managed to raise their levels in the short term, the previous season, and achieved an upturn but then in the 2nd season the team had relapsed into failure and become worse. He stated this had never happened to him anywhere else in his career.
He cited the culture of the club being one of failure and excuses being made for the players to protect them, (or their financial value to the owner), while undermining any manager attempting to establish a winning mentality or culture at THFC.
Conte was right and many of the players who let him down, most notibly Romero, are still here letting the current manager down.
Conte was right.
Levy has subsequently hired a manager who will do everything that Conte describes here.
Ange makes excuses for the board's failure to sign the correct players or players for now.
Ange sites bad luck with injuries rather than explain the reality of why his hands are tied.
Excuses, excuses, excuses excuses.
Conte was right.
A culture of failure, from the top down, perpetuated by weak, substandard people who are prepared to make excuses for failure. Winning is hard remember. To dare is too dear.
There is no ambigiuty in Conte's words and no lack of passion or desire in the manner he spoke them.
