Barca fans weren't too pleased with him. Probably not as dismayed as they were with Luis Enrique's direct approach, but Xavi's football was pretty dull and lacked intention/purpose. I don't think it's a good look that Flick's Barca played so much better from the get-go. Maybe I just have to pay Flick some more respect. He also made Kovac look a fool, at Bayern, by winning the CL after taking over mid season. I'm not convinced by Xavi. Not sure he's a good coach
I have friends that are Barca fans that say they won the league despite of Xavi, not because of him. He was shit. I don't want him. He's just above Ange continuing another year for me. I want McKenna, it's a bit of a long shot. But back to back promotions from league one to Premier League impresses me and he's got a background in Spurs.

That may cross Xavi Hernández off the list (if this really is true)....

Tottenham Hotspur have recently held talks with former Barcelona manager Xavi over a potential appointment, presenter Richard Keys has revealed.

Tottenham Hold Talks With Xavi

He's not keen on returning just yet

According to Keys, Tottenham have spoken to former Barcelona manager Xavi over a potential appointment, but he's said to be not ready to return to coaching...

"I heard from a really good source last week Spurs have spoken with Xavi. That makes a lot of sense. Sadly for Spurs I’m also told he’s not ready to return to coaching yet. Or perhaps he’s even smarter than we thought?"
According to Richard keys. The man with the werewolf hands.

I do not doubt that Xavi is a quality head-coach but I do have doubts about Xavi doing a good job at Spurs
But Barca was 9th when Xavi took over from Ronald Koeman, and took over a club that was close to being bankrupt but yet ended up 2nd in La Liga. The following season they won La Liga (the first time since 2019 for Barca) and winning the Supercopa.
In his last season he lost both Busquets and Dembele while Deco brought in Cancelo and Felix against Xavi's will...and I can go on. But Barca had backed him with around €200m.
Xavi is said to leave behind a squad of player where some supported him while others didn't and the he and Deco did not get along very well but he made the debut of 14 academy players in 2 1/2 season.

I would take McKenna over Xavi, and yet there's a handful of names (or more) I'd take over McKenna

I think McKenna is a great candidate but lots of fans want a big European name.

How did they win the league despite him but essentially the same group plus a few academy kids couldn’t win it the previous 3 seasons?

He did an unbelievable job and Flick is enjoying the fruits of the work he did bedding in Gavi, Pedri, Yamal, and Cubarsi.

We’d be mental to not make it happen if he’s interested.

You see what happens at PSG and Barca when you allow coaches that know how to coach technical players to do their job for a season or 2.

Nah. McKenna would be another Levy lapdog just happy to be in the limelight of a big club. No pedigree and zero gravitas.
Give me a big European name who'll call out the board and demand the calibre of player our history, wealth and ticket prices deserve over the likes of McKenna all day long

Yet people called Luis Enrique a flop when he "only" won Ligue 1 last season...

Nearly everyone was turning their nose up at him nearly 2 years ago!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The guy is on another level.
Xavi would have an incredible impact on our players. The absolute respect he’d get instantly and his knowledge of the game would be something we should throw kitchen sink at. If we are going to continue to be this club that buys younger players then again he’s the only one for me. The Barca kids are all thriving and a massive of part of that is because of Xavi.

Pretty sure I was having these exact debates on here when we were linked with Enrique, with people saying anyone could win with that barca team etc. Now im pretty certain everyone will agree its no fluke.

Essentially you can’t fluke a league title in a
Major league or win it despite the manager not being good. You win a title in any of the major European leagues and you’re a good coach. We would be crazy to pass up on someone like Xavi.

Exactly mate.

Levy would love to pass on another coach who would put pressure on his pretense of competing.

I’m bracing for Thiago Motta or Terzic. I don’t back Paratici and Levy to go out and prize away an exciting manager. The 2 above are available for free and would be grateful for the opportunity to try to rebuild their image.

Just read some ITK. Apparenlty this pic of the new guy was taken today. Seems a bit stoic, but probably has more tactical awareness than Ange

Motta’s time at Juve was a bit of a car crash wasn’t it?

Doesn’t Terzic have a reputation for being a control freak with transfers etc which may not bode well?
