Our league form was, as I said, abject. On that we agree. I have not reassessed that at all.
The cup win might, indeed, make us a better team if only from the perspective that it could alter the mindset of the players and give them a much needed shot of self confidence. On that we slightly disagree. Even if that is not true, there is a whole transfer window to be negotiated, so it remains to be seen what the team looks like next season.

My rationale for sticking with Ange unless a world class, serial winner, Manager is brought in, remains unchanged.

I'm not getting overly excited about the transfer window, a month or so ago Levy gave a statement saying we can't spend what we haven't got.

For qualifying for the Champions League we get £15.7m. Other money may come next year as prize money for winning or drawing games in the competition, and home match ticket revenue. It's not a guaranteed £100m income like i've seen posted on other platforms.

According to Football London the gooners got £51.34 million prize money for this year's Champions League but they reached the semis, The prize money goes up the further the achievement in the competition. So I don't know where we'll be getting money for new players that are CL level from?

Thinking Think GIF

I think quite a lot of us had concluded that Ange was not going to work out for us, and had expressed the view that, even if we went on to win the Europa, he had run out of road. I certainly wrote it here a few times.

I did not expect us to win the Europa and was completely unprepared for the seismic shift that win wrought in my mindset, and how much it meant to me, a fan of about 65 years.

Once the euphoria died down, it was time to take a sober look at things. Yes, our league performance was abject. It was unacceptable. But, and it’s a big but, we did something under Ange that the likes of Conte and Mourhino and Poch and Redknapp and so many others failed to deliver. I don’t buy, for a moment, that it was easy. We are winners again, and in a major tournament, and we have a place in the CL.

For us to replace a manager who has delivered that, abject league performance notwithstanding, we would have to appoint a proven, world class, serial winner as manager. There aren’t too many of them knocking around just now. Unless one can be persuaded to join us, I feel Ange should be given a shot at next season.

I have no problem, generally, with people who disagree.

Perfectly laid out; but I split off in differing opinion during the final para........ In the sober light of day, I don't believe that Ange is good enough for what will be asked of him in the imminent short (nor longer) term.

It's not a this season thing.... In the last 18 months; convincing performances (with a result to match) have been rare.

2024/2025 (league position in brackets):

1-0 v Liverpool (LC) - (1st)
5-0 v Southampton (EPL) - (20th)
4-0 v Man C (EPL) - (3rd)
4-1 v Villa (EPL) - (6th)
2-1 v Man C (LC) - (3rd)

4-1 v West Ham (EPL) - (14th)
3-0 v Man U (EPL) - (15th)
4-0 v Everton (EPL) - (13th)

+ the last 3 dogged away ties in the ELg.

Jan-May 2024:

4-0 v Villa (EPL) - (4th)
3-1 v Forest (EPL) - (17th)
3-1 v Palace (EPL) - (10th)

That's just 5 matches v top 6 teams in all comps in 18 months; 2 of which were backs-to-the-wall cup games.

I think most people that want Postecoglou to stay are willing to give him more time but not the entire season if we're lurking in the bottom half of the league table. The problem with serial winners is they probably know that we have limitations on players wages, so we're unlikely to attract the best. I doubt Conte would have taken the job now without Kane and Son at the level Son was at a couple of years ago.

We've tried world class serial winner managers and broke them.

Frank is as good a manager as I've seen us linked to. Would probably prefer Glasner or Iraola but they won't come.

Frank is a weird one for me. Like all these things it could turn out to be a master stroke, but based on the evidence what has he done that screams ‘Champions League club with yearly top 4 ambitions’? Promotion yes, establishing Brentford in the Premier League ok, but beyond that I’m not sure.

I can’t say I’m particularly well versed on his career before Brentford, but what has he won? Has he challenged for major cup honours with Brentford? He’s finished in the top half of the Premier League but Pardew for example did that with Palace, and with a much worse squad.

Levy says we deserve to be at the very top but he or his cronies have reportedly had meeting with the Brentford Manager?

Actions speak louder than words.

I share your opinion about not being sure how Frank would do at Spurs.
But regarding cups, clubs like Brentford often prioritize staying up in the EPL rather than gamble on a cup run.

Maybe, I think the football under Ange this year sucked.
The football this year has been total shit frankly. What Brentford play atm isn't prime Barca but it's levels above.

And it's worth remembering Ange totally recanted on his principles after saying that there was no 'plan B' as can be seen in the impressive away wins against Frankfurt and Bodo Glimt where we dug deep and got good away wins with our backs to the wall. If he doesn't believe in his own principles as well as the football being unsustainable I see no reason to keep him - perfect time to clean house.

If anything, history should have taught us that we can't really be sure of how ANYONE would be at Spurs! I'd say that the basic prerequisite must be a manager who knows the league and has shown a decent amount of skill. Frank certainly fits that bill. Both ourselves and Man Utd in particular are examples of how hard is is for managers who have no PrL experience to be thrown in at the deep end.
