Match Sporting (H) - UCL - 26/10, 8pm

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

you know what's amusing and painful, Emerson was comfortably the best of the rear 6 on Sunday.

all these years and all this trading done and still rolling up with dier, davies, sessegnon, sanchez in key roles. Hugo i'll ignore as it's very hard to get a top quality goalkeeper to come in while the France's number one is fit and healthy and relatively still sharp
What game were you watching? Emerson was awful.

I know it’s hard (believe me my faith has been tested in the last week) but let’s back the team tonight. If the shit hits the fan, rant, rave and scream all you like - after the game.

Going for 1-1 think we will get an equaliser second half
Draw is a really bad result. Not much of a difference between a loss and a draw in all the scenarios.

If we do end up drawing one and losing one, drawing against marseille is better as it means we’d be competing against Marseille and Frankfurt for 2nd and we have tiebreaks vs both.

A draw in this one followed by a loss to Marseille makes it very unlikely we’d advance as it would require Sporting to lose at home to Frankfurt and Frankfurt to lose or draw at home to Marseille.

If we can only get 1 point in the next 2 matches, we don’t deserve to advance. But at the same time, we barely scraped through the group stage, (I think in match 6 inter dropped points against PSV and we drew Barca late) when we made our finals run.

that back 3 is fucking atrocious to be going into an important game with. a league 1 side would be fancying themselves against that in the fa cup.

Pretty sure that back 3 is the one that beat Woolwich last season and closed out top 4 at the end.

Of course that’s in the past but some of the hyperbole on here does by nut in. Some on here have such a loser mentality and give up before a ball is kicked. No wonder it rubs off on the players.

We played the majority of that match up a player so hard to tell.

It’s true that back 3 has had good games together. But none of them can pass reliably so if we rely on them to build we are fucked.

If we are chasing the game with those 3, it won’t be good

It's a matter of them being serviceable when the unit as a whole is on song, but when the level of the rest of the side is not functioning to a high level their limitations really stand out.

I don't want to say they get carried as such, but something like that in a less harsh way...

A draw isn’t a good result tonight, but it’s still waay better than a defeat.

It would keep us ahead of Sporting and in the top two going into the last game. Needing to win to qualify (with a point possibly being enough).

1 win means we qualify no matter which game.

Without a win, the most likely scenario we qualify is
1) Draw/draw
2) Loss/draw
3) draw/loss

Scenario 3 is a stretch… it basically needs both away teams to get results or win in the other 2 matches. Scenario 2 would only require a Marseille-Frankfurt draw or a Frankfurt win but loss/draw to sporting. We could actually still finish top in scenario 1 if both other matches were a draw (unlikely) but if Frankfurt lost both games (decent chance as they are the weakest imo) we’d finish 3rd.

Draw is better than a loss, but my point is that it’s not by much. Anything other than a win and we are in trouble.

A draw does mean we could win the group with a win away to Marseille but given our away record in Europe, I would not take that gamble.
