Can people see now how a clean sheet and winning 1 nil can be every bit as fucking good, if not better as playing these chaotic games where we concede 3 but hope to score 4.

Ange has to learn from this, and make us more balanced and solid.

It's the way forward.

I'd take a clean sheet most weeks and winning 1-0 or 2-1 as opposed to getting battered 6-3 or winning 4-3 but conceding goals like crazy.
We've only been 'battered' once this season, 6-3 against Liverpool, arguably the best team in Europe at the moment, who had their strongest team out, with next to no players missing, while we fielded a makeshift team owing to 10 players out injured or suspended. Yet still we managed to score 3 goals against them.

It's better to win 4-3 than 1-0 in the league, for the simple fact; league position is decided firstly by points, secondly by goal difference and thirdly by goals scored.

From scoreline, we’ve been battered once. In reality, we’ve been battered by Fulham, Bournemouth, Gala, Chelsea, Liverpool.

Have not spoken to the Liverpool or Woolwich fans in the office today , cursory morning head nod when I got in .

Planning on pissing them off as they leave so they can have no distractions like they will in the office . Want them to be wound up all the way home on the trains .
So wanted to piss the two scousers off, but in a way that they didn’t see coming . So rather than mention the result I said

So glad we never took Kelleher off you , once Kinsky became available it was a no brainier to pull out.

The response was as expected

Fuck off no way you had a deal in place for Kelleher , besides Kelleher is better than Minsky.

It went on for a while about why he wouldn’t leave Liverpool for Spurs , but I just zoned out after a bit

I always wonder why when they zoom in they spend ages deciding which part of the body to measure. Surely it would be easy for them to mark a load of points and the software could determine which is the furthest forward.

Anyway this drawing the lines shit clearly isn't that accurate and takes way too long. Crazy they haven't got the semi automated yet which is much better.
"The software" does not have this feature due to the fact it is Microsoft Paint on Windows ME.

Still buzzing from that result , don’t get me wrong this club can be pretty fucking depressing at time but the games where we win is such a buzz!
I know fully well we haven’t even won anything yet and still have another leg of the semi but if you can’t enjoy nights like last night what’s the point! Please just don’t ruin it Sunday Spurs!!! :ange-hands-head:

It really isn't. That is just not true at all. I mean, have you only just started watching football? Nearly every league winner and most top 4 finishers each season are built on a tight defence. Leicester basically won the league by grinding out 1 nil wins most weeks, it was their defence and Kante (DM) that won them the league, and Vardy/Mahrez nicking goals. Woolwich have challenged by having a tight defence. Look at Liverpools defence this season. Best in the league and they sit top. City's success was built on defence and suffocatign teams and letting their attack destroy teams. Now City have been struggling, guess why? Because their defence fell apart and they started conceding goals.

Positions are rarely decided on goal difference let alone goals scored. .Teams that win things are almost always built on a tight defence. Hence why if we are controlling games and rarely concede, you always have a chance in games.

Our defence gave us the platform to win last night, we defended well, kept a clean sheet and scored one goal, and voila we won. If we had kep a clean sheet against Newvastle, we'd have won. We conceded two goals and lost. That win last night doesn't happen if you are conceding multiple goals every game as we have found. Just look at our recent results under Ange, conceding at least 2 goals a game and we've basically lost every game despite scoring in every game too.

If you are constantly conceding goals, and then you have a period where your attack is misfiring, as a team you are fucked. You will lose lots of matches.

So what you are saying is just plainly not true if you want to be a successful team. It's about getting your defence tight, to give you a platform to score goals and win games. Of course the more you score, the better, but not at the cost of your defence. It's football 101 and nobody is successful conceding lots of goals over a league campaign no matter how many you score.

To say that being involved in high scoring games each week is preferable to having a tight defence and being able to grind out wins 1-0 when not at your best, is just laughable.
