Player Squad 2024 - 2025

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Here is the current EL squad. We are allowed to swap 3 players.
Must be Spence and Tel in.
If Dragusin has a long term injury he will swap with Danso.
Werner is toast but who will be the third one dropping out of the squad?
Next game is not until March 6.

Forster out for spence, definitely. Austin has replaced him in pecking order anyways, and Vic will probably start all the europa knockout games from here on out.

My view on the squad. I appreciate some players can play multiple positions so it’s is simplified.

GK Vicario/Kinsky - 9/10 very strong.

RB Spence/Porro - 9/10 very strong.

RCB Romero/Dragusin - 7/10 Romero is talented but flakey and Dragusin doesn’t fit the system that well.

LCB VDV/Danso - 8/10 VDV is brilliant but injury prone and Danso is highly rated.

LB - Udogie/Davies - 7/10 Udogie has had a hard season and Davies is solid if unspectacular.

DM (number 6) - Bissouma/Gray? - 7/10 Bissouma is up and down then there is Gray with amazing talent who should eventually be moved to his long term position which Ange has already hinted at.

CM (number 8) - Bergvall/Bentancur/Sarr - 7/10 good players if not amazing although Bergvall might become amazing.

AM (number 10) Kulusevski/Maddison - 8/10 very good on paper at least.

Right Wing - 3/10 - Johnson is too limited to play this system and Kulusevski is an AM not a winger.

Striker - 7/10 - Solanke fits the system if not elite, Richy is good if injury prone, Tel is wait and see.

Left Wing - 7/10 - would give a higher score but Moore is still growing and Odobert has missing most of the season. Could end up a 9/10 but for now could be better.

Based on this we need a Romero replacement, Richy upgrade, new Right winger, new left back and possibly a DM if Gray is not to be moved there yet in the summer. For me a right winger is the major obvious flaw in the squad.

Odobert is right footed, doesn't he play on the right?

As of now, one of Tel, Danso, Kinsky, and Spence will need to be left out, and given Austin has shown he's capable of deputising to play in EL matches, Kinsky misses out so that in EL we have Vicario, Austin, and likely Whiteman too - both Austin and Whiteman are club trained so don't take up a squad place.

Those to drop out are -
1 Werner to accommodate Tel
2 Dragusin to accommodate Danso (I'm pretty sure Dragusin is a long term injury which resulted in Danso coming in - but to be confirmed)
3 Forster to allow Spence in - with Austin stepping up to play 3 times as GK, with no noticeable 'drop of' in quality of goal keeping from Forster, its an easy choice and we need to keep all the outfield players .

Changes are neutral on HG and oversea player numbers

seen him playing on the left. If he can play the right as well as on the left then great although both Son and Moore are right footed and play on the left. It would really if he could focus on the right as that is where the issue is.

He played one match for Spurs as LW and one RW earlier this season.

Last year for Burnley he played LW, RW and CF - more LW than RW or CF but definitely versatile.

Not for this season, but Yang is more of a RW than LW.

Johnson plays more as an inside right than RW - so the RB (Porro or Spence) provides width and Johnson tends to be closer to goal to score from crosses from LW, rebounds from CF shots and almost act as a secondary striker.

Yang is interesting, I see QPR played him right wing.

You know Dragusin is out for the season right?

  5. James Maddison(HG)

  11. Cristian Romero
  12. Yves Bissouma

  15. Dejan Kulusevski
  16. Guglielmo Vicario
  17. Micky van de Ven
  18. Rodrigo Bentacur
  19. Sergio Reguilon
  20. Pape Matar Sarr
  21. Destiny Udogie
  22. Radu Dragusin
  23. Timo Werner
  24. Kevin Danso
Kinsky, Tel, Gray, Bergvall, Scarlett, Moore and other youngsters are counted as U21's and do not reqyure registration in the main squad.

EL squad I have summarised in the Europa League thread

Vic
Spence - Guehi - VDV - Udogie
Gray
Bentancur - Kulu
Mbuemo - Solanke - Tel

Kinksy
Porro - Danso - Vuskovic - New
Biss
Sarr - Maddison
Odobert - Richy - Son
Bergvall, Moore, Johnson, Davies, Dragusin in support (the latter 3 could well be moved on).

When fully fit, that's a pretty damn good squad.

Just 3 summer signings could set us up nicely:
  1. RW is the easiest upgrade to our first XI. Johnson is not good enough, Kulu needs to be central and Odobert/Moore are not ready to be the main men. Mbuemo would do nicely.
  2. Replace Romero if/when he goes. Guehi would do the job.
  3. Get a proper LB alternative to Udogie and allow Spence to own the right (I think he overtakes Porro)
Decisions to be made:
  1. Is the plan for Gray to be our 6? If so let's start giving him minutes there
  2. Do we sell one of Biss or Bentancur to get in a dedicated 6 to compete with Gray?
  3. Probably best to cash in on Richy while his legs still work. Will Scarlett or Lankshear be ready? If not, replace with higher ceiling youngsters

EL keepers : Vicario, Austin, Whiteman - assuming we drop Forster from the squad

UEFA wouldn't buy Spurs or any other club deliberately releasing GK's just to register Kinsky. Indeed might demand Spurs include a youth GK on our List B to get 3 GK's into our squad

Isn't Kinsky cup-tied for Europa anyway? Made 6 appearances for Slavia Prague in the group stage.

Edit: no, apparently UEFA abolished cup-tied restrictions in 2018/19, so no restriction there.
