Looks like it's time for this again:

Several reports this morning suggesting the Eriksen fee was agreed last night. First off, that's fantastic news. I'm wondering though that with the urgency of Baldini and Levy both being present to ensure the timeliness of the matter, if we aren't rearing the guy for a possible appearance against Woolwich. Would be strange if so, but Levy and Baldini (allegedly) tag-teaming the hell out of this to completion in so quick a manner is even stranger. Of course even postulating as such would be completely ridiculous if he hadn't been playing/training, and doing such quite well this season.

Can't agree with ya more. The home ground of a team pushing for top four should be dreaded by every side in the league. The positive however, is the way we held our ground against Swansea this past weekend. Strong opponent, first home game of the season, one goal lead. In recent years, that was the recipe of disaster for Spurs. I've said it too many times already, but our team's move to hold the high line instead of parking the bus displayed outright confidence (as opposed to the nerves at home last year, especially when holding close leads) and enabled us to continue imposing our will on a game that was never going to look anything but ours. Absolutely fantastic to see such a mentality this early in the season, and even more so after how many points we conceded due to the lack thereof last year in particular.
We have so many options now. The ability to start with a midfield three of Dembele, Capoue and Paulinho ... be 1-0 up and bring on Sandro in the last 10mins to take the pressure off our defence is huge. With Lamela, hopefully a CAM and maybe a striker we'll have heaps of option in attack. Imagine a team getting battered by Soldado, Lamela, Chadli and Holtby with Rose and Walker chiming in on the overlap ... the team holds out for 60 mins but then AVB brings on Townsend or Lennon and Eriksen/Hernandes. We are going to scare a lot of defences.

I can't wait to see us against the Manchester teams and Chelsea ... I'm not saying we're going to win every game against them but I really don't fear any of them anymore.

This is all I ever really wanted as a Spurs fan. We'll probably never be a top European club, and I'm fine with that, but I want to be in awe of no one before a match anywhere on the continent.

Success has a way to change expectations no doubt. Look at ManCity. Before the oil money arrived, their fans wouldn't have realistically imagined that they'd win the Premier League let alone challenge in Europe. Sure, they haven't challenged in Europe yet, but they're seen as one of the big clubs on the planet now because their squad is top draw.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that even though we all here know Spurs have a glorious history, outside of the club's fans, the perception is that we're a club that gets close but then sells it's best players. But those perceptions will change if we can play in the CL for a few seasons and probably more important, challenge for the Premier League title. There has already been a change in how much of the media sees our club. Those of us here who remember when the media would laugh at us because we were linked with a quality player ... remember Rivaldo? ... now we can be linked not only older stars looking for one last contract but also young, up and coming stars like Sandro, Lamela, Paulinho and Capoue or finished products like Soldado without the press snickering about why a player wanted by Liverpool or Woolwich or Milan etc would even consider us.

It probably has more to do with the fact that the window closes in 5 days and that we still have a world record sale to complete. Also, I think we may still be in the market for more even after these 3 deals go through. Also, between now and the close of the transfer window we have 2 games as well.

If they were together in Amsterdam (which is extremely questionable) it has more to do with the minimal amount of time remaining in the window than the possibility of a player getting a start 3 days after he's been bought which will never happen except in extreme circumstances.

So - to summarise

We might end up bringing in

- Chadli
- Soldado
- Lamela
- Capoue
- Paulinho
- Chiriches
- Eriksen
- Coentrao

All in one single transfer window

"Spurs are also keen on Real Betis forward Alvaro Vadillo, who has been dubbed the new Cristiano Ronaldo. Vadillo has a release clause of £17m but the Spanish club know they will not receive that amount because they are in administration. A more likely transfer fee is £8m.
Vadillo, who has played five times for Spain Under 20s, is one of the brightest prospects in La Liga but has yet to score for the first team."

Yep. Though some people believe that it's Muniain we are after.
