Summer 2013 Transfer Window DISCUSSION Thread

Looking at the squad currently I think it's clear to see where we need to do a little more business; based on 2 players per position in a 4-2-3-1

Of course, we could at any time swap out one of our CM's for an attacking CM which could be Siggy or another (Eriksen?) and completely change the team dynamic. Right now, we have so many options in the middle it's making my head spin trying to fit everyone in!

There is still a few areas that need addressing though. We need a LB to give Rose some competition. We need another attacking CM/guy in the hole/string-puller to give Siggy a run for his money. And we could probably do with a striker, Ade seems to be on his way out and Defoe may or my not suit the system...he also may not be in form when we need him. Though these seem to be the primary positions we need to recruit for, I still maintain we need a back-up keeper...an injury to Lloris could derail us massively, the whole team set-up is based on a sweeper-keeper, if we ever need to call upon Friedel...everything changes!!

4 players in 4 days? Maybe we'll see some deadline day action after all!! :levyeyes:

I'm probably getting a bit spoilt and speaking about something im not 100% sure about but I think the most evident weak link in our team may be the Left wing with Chadli or Siggurdson. I may be judging Chadli too quickly, in what ive seen he is incredibly composed delivers a great final ball with either foot and he's built like an action figure. Problem is he lacks true pace and that greedy edge of cutting inside as much as you attack the byline to keep defendes guessing and blast in a few goals in the meantime. Lennon suffers the lack of cutting inside syndrome , probably as he shoots like a under 10s goalkeeper. Do you think Eriksen can play in that LW/LAM spot as first choice? Not even addressing Lamela at this point as I dont want anyone in my living room to see my Eric Shiun:parkerhmm:
 
When you think about it, we are witnessing the complete overhaul of the squad, a re-conditioning, V12, turbo charged and full of grunt. We will win more games this season than the last one. Its brilliant to watch all these signings and speculate who will play where. How many more people will we buy, is there a big signing yet to be announced??

Gomes an option for the keeper position? Not the best but a little faster off the line then Brad.
 
I really wouldn't want to see Gomes back, too many moments of madness for comfort. Brad does not fit the high line system but you know what you're getting.

Exactly. A lot of the paper talk about the "2 + 2 = 5" idea that we're in for Mata isn't that there's no way Mata would want to come to us because we're below his level, it's that there's no way Chelsea would sell to us because we're a rival and some go as far as saying we're a title contender.
