If it hadn't been for the whole "Have we signed...." threads, this one could have reached 1000 pages.
What a wasted opportunity. :harryfacepalm:
I know what you mean. It all feels a bit anti climactic. The last couple of days have been a bit of a reality check for us. We may have signed all these players but we can't take anything for granted. Still plenty of work to do to create a good team, and there may be some growing pains along the way if we are to compete with the very strong teams around us.Well, the fact we did our business early SHOULD have filled us with optimism at having a settled squad, who aren't just meeting for the first time after a disjointed International break...
but we've been 'spoiled' with last day BLOCKBUSTER DEALS that keep us all up later than we should, and ever more frustrated with SSN for doing this to us year on year...
Couple that with one major record-breaking gooner signing, and everything is on it's head, we don't know HOW to react, and as such, some are panicking!
We were in a much better position this time on Friday night (as we still had Bale!) and we shouldn't forget our S E V E N signings too... but yesterday's result, and todays' confirmation of Bale seems to have changed everything... coupled with apparently NOTHING happening with us in the last minute, leaves me with an odd, unsettling feeling... we didn't give SSN the 'showbiz' they were looking for... we left that to Real Madrid... maybe we're classier than that now... maybe this is what the turning of the tide feels like!
It's for the best, i think. In the media we are now complete underdogs again, probably even behind Liverpool and Everton. Sweeeeeet.
Or because two years in a row they have tapped up and taken our best player, refused to sell to us and looked to loan the same player to United and then sold the shite a decent player just to cover half of their bill with us..The Chavs were the biggest cunts for apparently 'stitching us up' over Willian, now of course Madrid are even bigger cunts for not helping us stitch up Woolwich.
