You are talking to ole Gibbsy. I'm the opposite of Cahspur and Totti. I don't pretend to know about other players...I didn't follow Roma either.

:vdvcry:

Tell me a Spurs player past or present. haha

I only obsess my brain grapes about my lovely boys. Wait...Is that the gooner? He was shit.
:vdvdive:
I don't really know of a Spurs equivalent. You'll need to just watch and judge for yourself.

Welcome back first off....

I see your point, but I just dont understand how we can accept a transitional season 3 years in a row.

I could accept stagnating between 5th and 6th, if the football was good. But we stagnate, and we never learn.

We spent years without a proper DM until we signed Palacios..we had Sandro, we had Parker, we had Capoue....all gone, and we are back with a problem that we had already fixed.

What happens next year while we are all happy and content with 6th?

Because I tell you one thing, Lloris wont be here. Maybe Eriksen and Jan too.

So, we may (MAY) have our striker by then....but oh look. We need a keeper and a playmaker.

Same shit, different part of the pitch....cant have the best keeper in Europe and be happy with 6th.

Exactly many out here back the bald head and try to convince others that we are not doing bad ,on limited budget and put all the money theories like they run the world bank , while forgetting this fact that another season out of UCL and erikson, loris ,jan are gone

Honestly, I may be in the minority here ... but I prefer Austin over Ings.

I'll admit that I rather have Berahino over him, but idk why so many people are put off with the idea of Austin at Spurs.
I don't get it either although tbf most on here seem to like Austin. He has scored boatloads every season at every level. Not only that I watched quite a bit of QPR last season and his link up play is very good better than Ings imo. He was also better than everyone else in QPR side, I think he would really flourish with better quality around him.

Honestly it is doing my head in we haven't bought him, I sound like a broken record but 15m for him is an absolute bargain in the current market.

Well, that's life. Barring a miracle, we're not hitting the top 4 this year in all likelihood. That's probably another year away, if everyone develops. We'll see who stays, and who goes. Much like any other year.

My enjoyment of the club is not based on where it winds up in the table, nor is it based on being in the Champion's League. Both are nice, but not necessary. Playing like the lads did for the first 60 minutes on Saturday is.

Hate to mention the elephant in the room but Kane as well. If he has another good season (which I expect) and Manure comes calling again next summer with a huge bid I am not convinced Levy would turn it down.

The fact that he did what he did last year, and no one has made a move for him should tell you that there's something off the pitch that all the other clubs know, and the fans don't.

Are we now saying that Levy´s policy of hiring and firing managers did give us stability then? It was positive for the club? Are people now saying that is was all for the best? The 8 or so managers since 2000?

Because if the above is true, then please dont moan if he sacks Poch at Christmas, brings in someone new, and we start again all over, with new potential.

Cant have it both ways.
We have made mistakes in having so many managers, there's no denying that. It wasn't the point I was making. We will only tell at the end of the season, if not sooner, if Levy has learned from this mistake.

The problem is thats happened about 10 times in 3 years, as opposed to most weeks.

Gotta love this new mentality of "Oh well, we´re not a top 4 team anyway...6th or 7th is fine"

Bullshit, you´d be screaming blue murder if Eriksen and Hugo were sold this window...and if that wouldnt bother you, then you really have some piss poor standards for this club.

How can they be mistakes when the end result of it all is progress on and off the pitch
We have made many mistakes throughout the progression we have made, the difference between ourselves and those that dropped off trying to breach the top four is that we're learning from our mistakes. We're trying to broaden everything into a new foundation, it can't be done over night. At any point there can be a proverbial David Bentley in any progressive department.

We need to realise this as a fan base, we need to back the board till it all comes to fruition with a brand new stadium. Moaning about our situation currently is like moaning that your mother's dinner isn't nice when it's not even ready yet.

When the stadium is finished we will be in a position to strengthen the squad with net spends and challenge properly with the youth we've brought through. We will lose top players until then, we will make mistakes till then (...and probably after), but, we will stay around 4th-6th due to the foundation ENIC have brought us. A foundation that we now take for granted compared to our mid table selves getting into Europe was amazing - what ever the competition.

If they were sold I'd be worried, but not panicking. And so far this year, with the deadwood gone, we've actually looked pretty damn elegant. Less so against United, but they were the best pressing team last year, so we're not going to face too many teams doing that.

The 10 times in three years thing is a bit bullshit. I am not caring about AVB or Tiny Tim. I judge this manager based on last year and this. And this year, with the deadwood gone, we look much better. I want a couple of depth signings, but we'll see what's possible. It's not Football Manager, and other clubs don't want to sell their best players either.

I love your mentality of "we're not top 4, so we're shit". I enjoy football for football. I like watching attractive football. I know not every team wins every game, and I know that we're in the hardest league as far at Champion's League qualification goes. We've got less money than all our rivals for that, we've got a young, developing squad, and we're in the middle of a pretty big overhaul of how the club is run.

I just want to enjoy watching the team play. I was able to do that for most of the Stoke match. I hope I will for all of the match next week, and every match thereafter. I think this will be a very good team that will become a great team as it grows. That is something which will take time. I am willing to give things that time. You aren't. That's fine, but I frankly don't plan on changing my approach to suit your whims.

If we sell Eriksen and Hugo, that's fine. I don't think we will, and especially doubt it this year, but at some point, that may happen. With Pritchard and Onomah in the wings, I'm not terrified about Eriksen leaving. Hugo, slightly more so, but he's not perfect, and I am interesting in seeing more of McGee.

That's where I sit on things. I don't really care where you happen to be.

The fact we've managed to finish 5th or higher so many times is quite incredible and a lot to do with other teams cocking up. The fact is we're the 6th richest team in the league and can not afford the significantly higher wages of the teams above us. We finished 4th the first time because City were still building and the second time because Chelsea had a horrible season in the league. Then throughout these years Liverpool seem to have been consistently under achieving which handed us the 5th and 4th place finishes they should really be getting.

Our way forwards is the new stadium, until that's built the best we can do is build the foundations of a great team and enjoy it. If we manage a miracle 4th place finish that would be great but we can't expect it.

I'm enjoying our football at the moment and I'm loving the passion shown by all our players, especially the youth graduates. The best part about where we are at the moment though is because of the way we are building our team we can really only go forwards.
couldnt agree more with this post, i'm happy with that situation and i hope that we can improve and build on. Dont give a rats ass about this UCL qualifying obsession either (it hasnt really helped the Gooners challenge for that top spot now has it) just want to see us play decent football, give chances to youngsters (when they deserve one) and try to improve on the last few years. Getting in the top 4 would be an improvement, getting the UCL money would probably help us immensely in our way to the top as a club BUT it shouldnt be an obsession. Winning a cup on the other hand would make me very happy, doing what Sevilla has done last year in the EL would be awesome.

I prefer a Mason breaking through over buying Alexis Sanchez.
