Transfers Summer 2016 Transfer Window Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

If any of you are needing a laugh, foxestalk is going into a meltdown over the Vardy situation. "How can he even think of this after all the club has done for him" boo hoo etc.

LCFC- welcome to the tortured world of having your players unsettled by bigger clubs.

It's not taken long for their perch to get an almighty whack from the poachers of this world
'After all the club has done for him' ?
They seem to forget it was their fans who made Vardy wanted to leave them, and jack football in altogether. The club also sanctioned his move to SUFC before the start of the season didn't they?

As for Wilshere persuading ( see tapping up) Vardy, maybe that was the reason Wenger was so desperate to get one Woolwich player, hobbling Jack, into Woy's squad.:gallashmm:

Players win matches and competitions. Not systems.

Too much emphasis is placed on this daft idea that players must be able to settle into a way of playing.

If Woolwich's so called system, which many will acknowledge as producing exciting football with high possession stats was so effective, they would have won the Premier in the last decade.

I think I know what I am talking about.

Systems of play are essential in football. In 2016, regardless of their talent level, players need to execute a game plan that the manager sets out.

Do you think that Leicester was so much more talented than everybody else that they walked the league by 10 points?

Vardy, if bought will offer the options that Walcott can't.

It is options that create the confusion needed.

If Pochettino just buys a striker who can play on his own. If he relies on buying young players to develop, if he buys players who have no edge then we will always fall short.

Rofl, I really do not think that you know what you are talking about.

Don't you think a lot of the chances created are created because of Giroud's hold up play and movement, which is much different from Vardy's usual game though?
Not especially. Wenger's teams always create chances. The issue has been that since Van Persie left they havent had a descent striker who actually takes this chances. Personally, I hope they don't solve the problem, but Vardy may not fit in there on hte pitch. He'll fit in in the dressing room, no doubt.

its far too complex for Woolwich to sign vardy. There are so many issues that need agreeing.
it is as good as dead. To be honest, I don't see why you would even bother trying to sign anyone.

Tell me about it, takes so much to get these deals done. Vardy has to sort out his attitude, 3rd party arrangements, think he might wait for a bigger offer after lighting up the Euro's. Also Woolwich stupid to offer the asking price, they could haggle a few quid and leave it until 1st Sept when the window closes....

Ha, yes. It will be done by Monday if it's happening. £25m over 4 years? Vardy loves it up the arse.

Don't trust ITK, they already said Batshuayi was coming prior to the Euro's.

However if Waynama did come for a reasonable fee (1 year left on contract) say £15 million it would be a reasonable piece of business.

After Dembele got suspended we really missed another powerful dominate player in the middle and it hurt us badly.

Also means we can drop Dier to CB in case of issues with Toby and be covered in the middle.

Prefer if we activated Kante's release clause TBH but this will do fine.
reports say koeman is going to everton. so there is expected to be a lot of saints players leaving too.
Wanyama seems a no brainer.

not to mention its in leicesters interest to only sell vardy on the last day of the transfer window.
Which will leave under a day to find a replacement.
It would be foolish to sell vardy now & then leave themselves a few months to find a replacement.

This probably isn't a bad time to sell him. Ok, it's a bit of a blow to their fans at the moment, but it's unlikely they'll be in a better position to replace him - CL football, and the kudos of champions - it's not the end of the world.

However, if Kante and Mahrez go...
