Out on a limb here maybe but I think we need someone like Zaha. A bit mercurial but also able to terrorise good defenders on his day and with the pace we definitely lack.

I don't see the Townsend comparison myself. Quite different players but I definitely see a talent who just needs to out itself.

Much depends on Palace's stance obviously but if we sign him (unlikely) then I think he gives us an option that will have much benefit.

And if we keep Son...

Imagine a situation where we have Zaha on one wing and Son on the other. Might be able to bite another team's face off by counterattacking with that.

Football clubs are run by businessmen. They react to supply and demand. If they can fill a stadium with £100 seats, they'll do it, no matter how low players' fees and salaries remain. The same goes for selling £100 shirts.

The fees and salaries rise because the market is willing to pay more, making players, agents etc. demand more, as they want their "cut". It's not the other way around.

So because everyone else is spending more money we should be doing the same and potentially bankrupting ourselves in the process? ENIC are a sports investment company and have run the club as a very tight ship whilst also building a £500m+ stadium. However some fans are crying when it comes to us not spending £20m+, paying £100k pw salaries in the process on players who are likely to be sat on the bench? Okay.

Because Utd, City and Chavs are spending astronomical amounts the market need to line up with their spending.The market demands money to be spent.

The money the club make from the fans is negligible, they could charge us £100 but they do us a favour by 'only' charging £55.

Where are you the rest of the season when the transfer window closes? You only show your face in August and January to complain about transfers.
