Here he is doing it. Honest

Hiding his boner too.

These Isco rumours are far too reminiscent of other big stars we were supposedly going to sign 48 hours before the close of the window, not going to get my hopes up

I actually think it's a bigger issue than most of us realise. A high price tag is significant for 2 reasons:
1) it reduces the amount of money in the "pot" for future transfers (whatever the actual size of that pot may be)
2) it causes undue pressure and expectation on the player in question i.e. Had Lamela signed for £8m at the time we'd be raving about him, likewise had Chadli signed for £20m he'd have been vilified

Fair enough points, however is the money really going back into the transfer "pot" as you put it? I'm not convinced. The money not spent on Berahino we didn't spend that elsewhere for instance. Zaha is not top of my wish list by any means but if it is Zaha or nothing, I would prefer to sign him even if we overpay.

So this season we have ' stepped up' and are now competing against far better opposition in Europe this season, the option to ' blood' a few youngsters for the Europa group games is fine but this season we do not have that option

At the end of last season I thought another striker and an another defensive midfielder would do us fine.

I also thought a couple would leave, again no problem with that, but we have added two players and waved cheerio to four? Is fazio gone? That would be 5!

Our bench for this seasons league games looks bare, I am trusting that we should have at least two arrivals before tomorrow?

If we don't then I think we had all better lower our expectations for this season, yes we have a good first team, but over a season injuries and suspensions will add up and it is not fair to expect the likes of Josh onamah and harry winks to simply ' step up'

Does anyone know if Poch has a clear, official stance on development of young players regarding loaning them out vs training them here?

It seems to me like he's only loaning out players he wants rid of(?) while he's keeping the hottest prospects around. I find it a bit worrying, as our most succesful "products" have all gotten experience in smaller clubs.

Walker and Rose came from smaller clubs and were later loaned out before breaking through. Kane, Mason, Carroll, Townsend went through a bunch of loans. Alli and Bale came from smaller clubs. So did Dier, who in addition was loaned out from his smaller club.

Some players might break through directly in a big club. Most, I think, will benefit from gaining experience by carrying the resonsibility of regular game time.

Onomah, in my opinion, looks like a player who desperately need to play regularly in a smaller club before we can expect any regular contribution from him. I don't think it would hurt for Winks either.
