I actually think it's a bigger issue than most of us realise. A high price tag is significant for 2 reasons:
1) it reduces the amount of money in the "pot" for future transfers (whatever the actual size of that pot may be)
2) it causes undue pressure and expectation on the player in question i.e. Had Lamela signed for £8m at the time we'd be raving about him, likewise had Chadli signed for £20m he'd have been vilified
"I have already signed Bincent and Bictor....now I sign you Bisco"
£80k a week I read somewhere.
Levy will probably offer £8.50 a hour.
Not really much better though Is it ?Midfield options - no worse than last season really:
Dele CM/AM
eriksen AM
Lamela AM
Dembele CM/AM
Wanyama CM(?)/DM
Dier DM
NJie/Nkodou AM
Onomah AM
Carroll CM/AM
Kane AM
Greg Stobart saying 20 mil plus Carroll for Sissoko. Could see that tbh. He won't play this season and this is the last chance Newcastle will have to make this much money on him.
