Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Thought he ran his bollocks off yesterday and was a perpetual thorn in Alderweireld's side (which is no mean feat).

However, he's older than I thought (29), and we should forget about trying to sign any Southampton players anytime soon - unless we want to overpay massively.
:levywtf:

The best thing to do is follow the Saints template of bringing a lower profile striker in his late 20s who can develop a bit and be perfect Kane backup; and have him in addition to whatever marquis striker signing we make (Lacazette, Batshauyi, etc).

Honestly thought Shane Long was about 24!!

He's 34 in August - you mean on the coaching staff?

Long is a handy player.

To be fair we signed njie & son.
So i do think poch signs players who are just good enough. They dont always need to be amazing & top notch.

That's what it looks like from what we've seen from the two so far. But N'jie and Son having achieved what they did in their early 20's doesn't equal just good enough imo. Comparing those two to a 29yo Long is way off.

Maybe a bit better than good enough. But not top notch.
Njie especially wasnt hugely rated with lots of big clubs battling for him.

I'd have to agree with N'jie, he looked promising but nothing special. If Son can bring his Bundesliga form to us then we will have a real talent on our hands though. I remember when he signed for Woolwich instead of me on FM. I was devastated :chadliblow:

N'jie apparently turned down a concrete offer from Woolwich to join, and there's no way of knowing what other interest were there.

As for Son, most people who actually knew and followed the Bundesliga were very surprised, we managed to sign him over bigger clubs.

So that's simply untrue on both counts.

Njie has made 7 appearances for us this year. 7!

Simply nowhere near enough time to be making sweeping judgments about whether he was a good enough signing or not. The jury is still out on Son but again i will reserve judgment until he's had time to settle into the league and find his stride in the team.

Its rare to find even a top class player that hits the ground running in this League.

People forget so quickly that Modric took a season or so to get used to the League and Bale almost went to Forest / was seen as a jinx after he didn't win a game after 20 odd starts. .

bbc gossip page today is just hilarious!

Mahrez and Kante to Arse? £60m the pair?! and £20mil for Walcott... gimme some of that high strength smoke

son has shown glimpses of what he is capable of. you can see the potential their.
I know he was highly thought of in Germany. but then again so was kagawa.
I wouldn't never properly judge a player until at least their 2nd season.
especially players coming in to the premiership.

njie hardly played as you mentioned. really, next season will be his first proper season.

way too early to judge. but chances are that both wont go on to be top notch.
maybe they will. we shall see.

if poch is only signing players he thinks will be top notch, then he will be disappointed regularly.

we don't know how strong the Woolwich interest was in njie. only got njie's word for it I think?

I thought we signed him without any real competition. But maybe I was wrong.

And yet, despite being too early to judge, the glass half full that is you, have managed to judge them as being "a bit more than good enough"

Indeed, but they have to have a chance at being/ending up top notch to begin with.....was the point. Which makes Shane fucking Long plain ridiculous.
