Other way around - they kept the top tier. It's a bit of a Frankenstadium.

So they have, I knew there was one bit that "didn't fit" and assumed it was the top tier. My point still holds tho, it's a big stretch to call it "an expansion of a stadium already in existence", it's 85%-90% new

We are becoming a bit of a parody at this point.

Mate, that comment itself is parody at it's 'finest'.

We are the secret envy of the EPL. Our entire first 11 is highly coveted and cost relatively fuck all.

..."Parody"???? Get a grip...You'd think we were WH, FFS!!!

I don't know whether we're an easy target for these sorts of headlines or we genuinely are this fucking scattergun in our dealings.

You want scattergun, look at the much envied-by-some spending of Man United since Fergie left...

Probably spent over half a billlion and still stuck finishing 5th/6th!

I'll never complain about the way Levy runs the club and the direction he's taking us in but my god he's fucking frustrating at times.

Gut-wrenching Irony...

That's fine. I am just not interested in arguing a point with you when you would change your mind based on what poch does. It is a bit pointless.
You have faith in poch if he spends nothing or big.

Also, you have said chelsea bought the title & if city win it next season then they would be.
Now you are pretending chelsea didn't spend big.

if city win the title you will say they bought it right? But you also say spending bigs a waste of time.

anyway, you carry on changing your story to whatever.

You have lost perspective.

You seem to be saying there is no middle ground between what we do and being taken over by a billionaire who pumps hundreds of millions of pounds into a club, living beyond their actual means, being in debt by half a billion and stockpiling mercenaries with no respect for youth policy or coaching.

Even if we buy Ross Barkley, we are still abiding by our own policy and not that of City. We will still be self sufficient if we sign players as we will sign them within our structure. That's why I will still trust Poch.

It's got nothing to do with changing my stance. I haven't changed stance, nor do I see us spending 50M on Barkley or Lemar.

You are flapping around with this "spending big" nonsense but it has no bearing on anything.

A club has the right to spend as much of its own money as it wants. Chelsea have no right to spend billions of Abramovichs wealth on players. City have no right to spend some random Shielks wealth and play in a stadium donated by the tax payer that they now earn billions on through the naming rights of their owners personal company.

As you were.

I'm not sure how you have the audacity to draw parallels between us and them. You seem confused by it all.

...So no call for further frustration or embarrassment for you!

...Phew! What a ride, eh?
What's your problem exactly? Is there even a point to this reply?

At this point I'm not sure whether to be flattered or worried at the weird amount of attention ur paying my last couple of posts.

I think Levy is great but our transfer behaviour is a bit of a parody. No other team consistently drags out transfers like we do. I'm not saying he's necessarily wrong in doing it but it's frustrating never the less.

Not really, this is what they started with...
estadio+la+peineta+2.jpg

It was built for a failed Olympics bid for 2012 and again for 2016, it never got beyond this stage. It was used for a couple of athletics meets and that was that. They've pulled down the top tier and maybe the bottom too, the top one wasn't in fantastic condition as I remember and couldn't be incorporated into the new plans.

So more or less they have built it from scratch. One reason it's costing less as far as I know is that the land and what you see above is owned by the City Council, I think they're leasing it to Atleti
I think they kept that stand that's why it's such an odd shape and has huge gaps at that end. They just removed the lower tier.
Also why it was so cheap is becuase the building company wanted the land in the centre of Madrid to develop and Atletico were £500m in debt.
So they got it, and in return for the old stadium land they would build Atletico a stadium at basically cost.
Didn't the fans go mad about the 12 mile move and challenge the building company saying it was illegal for them to build anything higher than 4 floors in Madrid city centre.
Took it to court.
Would have meant FCC, the building company, losing a lot of projected revenue and make the move doubtful, as Atletico couldn't afford the build.
.....delays, no olympics again, Calderon site value falling FCC bailing, building costs rising
Wanda injecting money for naming rights then approach some billionaire from Mexico for a loan of about £150m

Ps lots of controversy and lots of debt surrounding the build just reading
Also the Mexican wants his loan repaid quick at the risk of gaining control of the clubs shares

Think you need to get a grip 'mate'. Such a weirdly ott reaction to a mildly frustrated post.

Yep, in conjunction with the other post I made, there's a point to it.... For your own sake.... Drop the knee jerk and chill the fuck out!

(In your very next breath you already conceeded you "hadn't thought" that hard before reacting!)

LOL.... You're talking about OTT reactions? You're 2 for 2 right now...

Some half-baked transfer rumor provokes you to declare us a "parody"

...Then you act like I'm some hyper-stalker for merely calling you out on it.

(Reminder: You are on a public forum. Expect a reply here and there....)

So we come full circle.... If you are genuinely frustated and embarassed by us when we're sat so relatively pretty....

Don't be a DT.... GET SOME PERSPECTIVE & CHILL THE FUCK OUT!

I've been chilled all window and that's one of the very few negative posts I've made. And even that was balanced with positive aspects. The vast majority have been in defence of our policy and against "knee jerking".

If ur on here enough u get to know who leans which way on transfers / levy / Poch / players and who regularly slates certain aspects of the club.

I suggest u wind ur neck in a bit before picking arguments with people that likely have the same views as you for the most part. It's unnecessarily antagonistic.
