Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

But we already have Moura? We’ve got ourselves into a transfer mess by stockpiling less than wonderful non HG players, do we need to duplicate them?
I agree but how can we argue with a man who brought us to a champions league final and successive champions league qualification? He has to have free reign to build the side the way he wants, if he messes up he can't blame anyone but himself.

If I was City and I saw that Spurs were after Ndombele, I would throw my hat into the ring.
The player would be as interested in signing for City as he would be for Spurs. Having me fuck with the oppo would mean the price Spurs pay would go up or Spurs go for another option and don't sign the player at all.
It really isn't straight forward.
Good point. Loads of teams (including no doubt Spurs) will be making enquiries or bids for players they have zero intention of buying.

Let's snaffle this guy! Whatever it takes
(Media does not work)
This is the guy. 18yo plays for RB Salzburg. Scored 9 goals in one game last week.

I am always more interested in potential from lower leagues rather than "stars" as Spurs have a better strike record with the former.
So worth keeping an eye on

What's everyones opinion on Tielemans? Impressive at Leicester, got a few goals and assists.

Not impressed at all. But maybe Poch could do something with him and he is a cheaper option than some suggested players.

So you want to stay at the level we're at?....Got you.......

No mate, I don't (and sorry, by the way, with hindsight my post was too brusque, thanks for not over-reacting back....)

What I want is a team of home-grown players, with Tottenham running through their veins, products of an exemplary academy and scouting system, giving their all and competing at the highest level.

What I don't want is obscenely expensive mercenaries, however highly talented they are, strutting around and earning £300k a week for kicking a football for a club they don't give a shit about - even if those mercenaries have a better chance of winning silverware.

Thats not my club, I don't want that for my club - thats the Man City way. It's a matter of principle, because if you want the club to spend billions, thats where we'll end up.
Each to their own, but that's not for me.

Tottenham have joined Manchester United in keeping tabs on Norwich starlet Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey has impressed Spurs's scouts with his performances for the Canaries this season, playing a key role in Daniel Farke's side gaining promotion back to the Premier League as Championship winners.

The 21-year-old has enjoyed a swift rise since making his debut for then League Two York aged 17 in before joining Norwich in January 2016.

Godfrey can play as centre back or holding midfielder and it is his performances in the latter position especially that have caught Spurs's eye and convinced their talent spotters he could make an impact in Mauricio Pochettino's midfield.

And I should add, I can't have that cake and eat it.

If that's how I feel, and it is, then I can't criticise the club if it falls short competing against clubs that spend billions. So I don't, I support the club for doing it the right way, even if it means not winning the PL or CL every 2 years. That doesn't make me 'unambitious', or a 'happy clapper', it just means I want different things for my club.

I’m hoping this is all just noise. I imagine after Draxler it will be James and then Isco. Any player that is available will be linked to us, for clicks.

We have Dier for that though, this sounds like another investment.

We all like to see our Own products given a chance and run through walls if their good enough if not then the need for top quality, city are in possession of a treble I really can't see they are doing much wrong on the team front all of us would be happy with that not that we will get it mind.

Draxler did end up in a fight with Neymar towards the end of the season where Neymar complained that he "only knew how to pass backwards". So that might be part of him being sent off.

He's a good player.

I guess his playing role/style is a bit of a mix of Dele's and Christian's. But Dele's position in the 11 is also at the moment unquestioned so it could do him some good to get some competition in.

We need more depth in attacking positions. More players that can come on to win a game the better.

Well, I'm exaggerating here for effect because the reality will be a blend but, no.

If they're not good enough then we improve our recruitment of youngsters into the academy until we are good enough. What we don't do, even if that means finishing 4th for 5 years in a row, is go and spend billions to try and buy success.

Given their strategy, and their unlimited wealth, maybe City aren't doing much wrong - but they are buying success rather than earning it and that might be fine for some but it isn't for me. If I lived in Manchester I'd be supporting UFCM or Salford by now.

I've seen this kid play for a full season, absolute quality, I like Dier but Godfrey is physically stronger, much faster and has a never say die attitude. Their playing style is different, Dier is a holding player that's a good passer and can spray a pass, Godfrey covers a significant amount of ground and can drive forward with the ball, think Sissoko but can pass and has purpose when he runs.
