Nope. The reason we got to the CL final was due to not singing anyone last summer. As you say, our league form has been poor this year largely due to no signings. The same thing will happen next year if we don't sign anyone again.
It's funny, he's one of Utd's better players, I still wouldn't want him, a 30m player all day long who will now walk away from Utd for nothing ... they certainly are screwing up big time ....

Perhaps, Malcolm prior to his Barca stint was a bit of a hybrid player, a creative passing game like Eriksen but also a winger.
I would always view Lamela as playing the Eriksen position, creative passer role rather than a wing forward like Son or Lucas.
Malcolm is somewhere in the middle. He at the right price would be an extremely good singing, yes it hasnt worked out at Barca but a lot of players don’t. We shouldn’t turn our nose up at quality players because they didn’t make the cut at Barca, Madrid or PSG. After all Lucas is doing ok.
I would actually be more happy with this signing than Gomes, nothing against Gomes but Malcolm has amazing potential.

I think Malcom would be a terrific signing. Could be a top top player for us.
Really don't know what to make of the Gomes stuff though. He's better than I thought he was from his Barcelona days but if we're expecting him to come in and be our midfield saviour I think it's going to be a big let down..

Bolton are most likely going into Administration, and he's one of their best youngsters so no surprise we are interested/linked.
But we already have Dennis Cirkin at LB and Harvey White (DM also plays LB if required) both of whom are fantastic prospects, both Academy Year 1 going into Academy Year 2 so about the same age - main difference would be that the Bolton lad has these 10 games experienced with Bolton in Championship.

It’s not about finding a saviour, it’s going to be almost impossible to find someone who could replace Dembele the way he replaced Modric. It’s about building a new midfield that has the proper balance and allows us to control matches, something we have been completely unable to do this season.
Liverpool don’t have an exceptional central midfield but they have one that gives balance to their team and brings the best out of their players. We need to build one that gives us a solid base to defend and attack, if we have top players at either end of the pitch then we don’t next world class players in the middle. Just ones that do the basics well.
Gomes is not a top player yet but compared to the ghost of Wanyama and the lumbering zombie Dier he’s a massive upgrade.
Always been a Grealish pessimist but the more I see him the more I think he could do a job for us....needs to sort his fucking socks out though

From what I understand at Barca he was essentially given the Sissoko year 1 treatment. Played as a winger when he is a central midfielder, and then he got chucked about as far into the exiled list as they could.
At Everton he has been polarizing I guess. I have seen some like you, who aren't too fussed about him leaving, but at the same time I have seen some that are really sad to see him go. But most Toffees seem more realistic in that it is more important for them to make sure that Zouma stays on a permanent deal than Gomes. Since they have a fairly good midfield already with Bernard, Gilfy and Davis.
He'd be a good squad addition for us. Move Wanyama on and give Gomes his spot and have him duke it out with Winks and Sissoko for minutes.
If that's the price, we should join the party. Probably the best player we could replace Eriksen with.
