All of Celta have been crap to be fair. Pione Sisto has apparently gone insane for example.

Seems like his release clause was structured so it would go down to 25 if they went down.
I get my updates on the Spanish football podcast (rarely watch live) and the view at Christmas when westham were linked was he is a bargain at 40m, suarez like with a little less pace. The view at the end of the season was the 40m is a big risk and he is probably not worth it at the moment.

So a punt it seems

Bale was a like a luxury car, luxury cars have higher depreciation, no reason to pay over 35m for him now and he will have to take 75% wage cut.

If I were him, I'd stay in Madrid as the world's most expensive chav

Rondon. Will be cheap if WBA don't come up. Liverpool couldn't handle him in their penultimate game. TBF no PL CBs can because of his combination of strength and athleticism. Sure, you can say he should score more but he has played for Pulis and Rafa. I like him, he wouldn't rock the team collective boat and would work hard as he always has.

Anyone that would chose Dzeko (I wanted when he left MC) at 33 and having scored 9 goals in that fraud of a league Serie A over the 29 year old Rondon who got 10 playing for the Spanish Pulis (as a previously respected poster on here calls him), works harder, is significantly more mobile, faster, stronger, and athletic needs their heads examined. And this tirade is specifically aimed at said aforementioned 'previously respected poster' and not you PLMT.

Pricetags and boners aside, Rondon or Gomez for you?

If we can get him for between 30-35 mil it would be worth a punt I wager. Young guy, 30 goals in La Liga over two seasons, in a less than stellar team no less. Lots of good attributes. Poch should be able to get a tune out of him.

Nice!

If we were ever to spend that much on a direct back-up that would signal to me that Kane's finally chilling out about gametime in the interests of the bigger picture.

I think it'd be a waste of money, to be honest.

I know people don't like him and think he's beneath us but I'd take Rondon over him and match his £16,000,000 release clause before we ever start to think about spending anywhere close to £40,000,000+ on Maxi Gomez.

I'd even take Mitrovic over him.

At least they both know the league and have got it done.

So much more important positions to strengthen.

Nah. Football players are a greedy lot, but Real Madrid can fuck off in this instance. They’ve waged a disgraceful campaign against him, in public, hoping to bully him out of the club. Don’t blame him at all for digging his heels in.

But he is a supposed footballer and already wealthy beyond his wildest dreams or needs.

It's a shorr career and to me it seems a complete waste of talent.

Just my view.

.....You don't think he'd prove worth the extra dosh?

My view also, but (even as rumours) they represent a fragment of an overall plan, so gotta trust the gaffa innit.

No, because he's not as good as Kane and never will be.

Poch may try and play him and Kane together like he tried when we signed Janssen but it won't work or someone more important will miss out.

The only player we should ever sign for back up to Kane is an experienced player who's happy enough to get paid a wage and occasionally get a shot in cup games etc. or someone who can also play in another position (On the wing like Son)

I was comparing cost vs Rondon/Mitrovic, not Harry...

(He'd cost 4 times as much again. I'm not naive enough to expect a WC ST on our bench for 75% of the season.)

Whilst I largely share your opinion regarding a Son-type hybrid, a like for like KIND of ST that allows us to rotate without making tactical changes elsewhere would be welcome as this potentially plays a part in the way we sometimes struggle to transition back to Kane-ball when he returns.

I don’t want to hear about links with back up strikers until the end of the window when we have 2 more CM’s, a fullback or two and maybe another wide forward signed. Then if we still have time and money then I wouldn’t mind another back up striker.

For now I’m happy for son/Moura to play the striker role in Kane’s Absence.

You'd best inform our friends in the media.... But I suspect they don't give a fuck.

(I agree though, in as much as I won't relax until we've bagged the much fabled CM.)
