Transfers Summer 2019 transfer thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

I think Levy has to back Poch or we lose him. Poch supposedly wants them in before they leave for their tour, so that is 4 weeks tops. I think we see something in the next 2 weeks . Would kill for Ndembele in CM/DM, an upgrade at RB (that isnt' 30 years old), and someone to replace Eriksen if he leaves (Lo Celso, Bruno Fernandes, etc. No idea if we are losing Toby or not.

I get the feeling that a couple of our first choices are bigger clubs 2nd choices, and that a few of the players who would happily be a part of our future moving forward are not our first choice targets.

I've seen links to Ndombele and teams such as Juventus and Real Madrid looking at him but prioritising moves for Pogba and Eriksen ahead of him. I've also seen links to Van De Beek who I don't think is a prime target of ours and people say he'd jump at the chance of joining us.

These are the cat and mouse games that teams, not just ours are faced with. We either give them offers too good to refuse so their names are taken off the table, which more often than not sees players get paid more than they are worth or we hold tight and see if things drop our way. The 2nd tactic is far more difficult to do these days with teams funded by owner not club productivity thus stockpiling occurs. The sooner a genuine FFP system comes into play the sooner actual skill in the development of football clubs and players will bare fruits. New money football clubs such as PSG, Man City and of course back in the day Chelsea have disrupted the market. The club has a decision to make, it sticks to its guns, the guns that have seen us reach a Champions League final with elbow grease and tact or we drop our pants and promote financial risk on a different scale.

I think this summer will have a fair old amount of who blinks first attached to it across many teams, ours included and Pochettino needs to be realistic with the circumstances across football at present. It's tough because it leads to much uncertainty but we either secure 2nd or 3rd choice targets sooner or we play the game and risk them moving elsewhere in order to have a chance of prime targets. Who'd own a football club right?

The lack of rumours suggesting Alderweireld or Vertonghen are going anywhrre plus I've only seen one random rumour linking us with a BC (Ake) suggests to me that atm Spurs think Alderweireld and Vertonghen will both be here next sesson. Good to get Foyth and Sanchez and maybe one of our academy CBs playing alongside and learning from them this coming season.

Expect one new CB on the list next summer though

Not unlikely, but imo you're overlooking one unknown. There's a whole group of top teams trying to get De Ligt. There's a chance that everyone is waiting that one out. And then the "losers" of that battle for him will come calling for Toby.

Agreed.

It gets to the stage where it looks like Levy is taking the p!ss out of Pochettino.

I guess the size of the contract acts as a deterrent but it is unreal.

18 months and we cannot even do one deal to show intent.

Van de Beek looks like a real gem. The one that seems to go under the radar. Him and Winks would work as an immense partnership.

I do see one big name signing though. Let’s see what magic they can muster because at the moment we are linked with just about every player in world football and we all believe it lol. It’s fake news.

How about Van de Beek and Parrot?

Trix :

The next two weeks will hopefully define this summer's transfer window. We want them in early and have certainly been looking to do just that. Problem is these are all players wanted by other clubs, and unlike Madrid we are not at the top of the food chain, so things innevitibly take a bit longer. We have been working on the players in question though for some time, and I'm told are all keen on a move to us. The names this time round are pretty much already out there via the press, so I expect little as far as surprises are concerned.

Bale's agent and Madrid are in a stand off, a case of who blinks first so to speak. This does not mean he's coming to us, others interested, but I would not rule it out at this stage. What is for certain though is no one ATM is willing to go near paying what it would need to get him out of his Madrid contract.

There's a couple of other bits hopefully I can post a bit latter.

Could be, may be, should be, would like to think that......................
