is saying with Alli, (although the "one step ahead of Sissoko" was harsh) but also understand the incredulity of some at a criticism of his technical ability. The truth is he is cabable of moments of supreme technical quality, the problem is, they are interspersed with a shit load of poor first touches, bumbling, wastage - brought about by technical failings or bad decision making.
And after three years of constant high level coaching, PL and CL football, you would expect the ratio of good/bad to have shifted heavily toward the good, not just in better touch and less bumbling away possession but in terms of decision making - ie when to try the highly improbable and when to just put your foot on it and play someone in a better position in - and toward the end of last season I thought it had, but the balance of this season would suggest not.
I think one of the problems may be that Poch has heavily indulged him, never really given him the kick up the arse he needed, when he really needed it, he's been allowed to churn out some really poor performances constantly at various times in his three years with us, without facing the bench for a week or two like others would.
Before we signed him, I watched him for MK a few times and questioned where he'd play for a top4 PL side as he lacked the dynamism to play in a CM2 which we played entirely back then, and the true technical ability to play as a ACM.
The truth is Poch has shoehorned formats around to accommodate him and Eriksen into the same side at times and it's not always worked, the CL final being a great example.
