Transfers Summer 2020 Transfer Thread

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

The usual divs.

And there is 10+ years of evidence of Levy and the transfer window.

Not sure why anyone would expect a shit Leopard to change his spots, especially when he has the "excuse" of Covid to explain away his cheapness and lack of improving the squad in areas of clear need.

Last season:

GLC 45m
Ndombele 55m
Sessengon 30m (inc. Onomah)
Clarke 10m
Bergwijn 30m
Gedson (Loan)

It is quite under whelming hearing about how little finances the club has to hand, but certainly not s surprising one I think everyone has to realise not too expect too much on the pitch and transfer wise.

It’s kinda mental the fact that people thought it would be business as usual when the club took a 200m gov loan, you had Levy’s statement at lockdown about being staggered at transfer talk, the fact that we still haven’t played a full season in our 1bn stadium almost 18 months after it opened.

I don't. I think we will go for one out and out RB and that Tanganga will be given the backup role as a way of bedding him in and giving him first team experience without dislodging the centre back setup too much.
So you´re saying we´ll have Ben Davies, a new RB, Tanganga, Cirkin and Gedson as FB´s options.

I don´t think that´s good enough.

It´s different to the CB discussion. I think we all agree that it would be nice to add a strong CB to complement Toby, Dier and Sanchez. But we do have 5 recognized CB´s in the squad (Tanganga is one of them).

We are going to play a very difficult season with only two recognized FB´s. It´s not about panic or desperation. It´s simply wrong in terms of planning, and it´s not something a top club should do.

I dont think we can really count Cirkin as an option at the moment. Mourinho has said all the right things but he's only just 18 and hasn't kicked a ball in competitive football yet. Full back options at the moment are Davies, Sessegnon, Aurier and Tanganga. 1 centre back, 1 who is arguably better as a winger and one who has brain farts and we're trying to sell. Not sure anyone can argue that with under 3 weeks until the season starts that is a great situation to be in.

Wouldn't mind if Cirkin is the back up LB if all the coaches rate him give him a chance.

We need two more signings this window a backup ST and a brand new RB. I'm hopeful on the RB and the rumour mill seems to indicate that's what the club are after right now.

The ST has been an issue in the past but honestly if we are playing this 4-4-2 then game time should be easy to come by. Ideally we need to get a young striker like the lad from Brentford who is making a big step up or someone on the Llorente side solid can do a job but Is in the swan song stage of his career.

Planning is one thing, executing is another. No plan survives round 1 with the enemy as the old military saying goes.

Is it ideal? No. But I would honestly prioritize another striker to backup Harry. Tanganga has proven that he can work as RB.

If we cannot find what we need in the market we have to put the faith in our own academy. Dust it off after years of lack of use.

Would I like to see two new RBs in this window? Sure. But I also don't hold it as super likely.

i am not sure one transfer window where they supposedly spent a lot of money but failed to address needs negates the 20+ other transfer windows in which they were cheap as hell and gladly ignored glaring holes in the line-up.

So you are fine going with Cirkin as our starting LB in the PL if Davies gets hurt?

It is unclear whether Cirkin is even up for playing in the EL/Cup games let alone having to play LB if Davies is unable to go.

Tanganga or Gedson as the back-up RB options are pretty awful options as well. Means one of them has to play there in EL/Cup games, likely hurting Tanganga's development as a CB, and neither is a good option if our new RB goes down.

And if we add nobody to our MF we will once again be in trouble when teams park the bus or get an early goal against us.
