The bad signs are in the next quote:

Sorry if I missed a bit....

we are selling Aurier, but it doesn´t look like we are signing two RB´s. So, basically, we will be in the exact same position we were last season in terms of depth.

Of course, Jose will try to make the most of the group at his disposal, but I don´t think he wrote to the club something like "we don´t need depth in the FB position because we already have Gedson". Again, there are many signs to back what I´m saying - even though it´s just speculation. Aurier, the player we are now happy to sell, played 42 games last season - the second most in the squad -, including all the final matches after the death of his brother. Gedson and others were training to play in the RB position, as Jose said - yet, they didn´t play a single game. Next season´s schedule will be even worse. It´s not reasonable to expect any player to play 90% of the games.

Aside from being confident we will sign a new #1 RB, the thing I take comfort from is that:

a) Jose was reportedly already training Gedson as a RB towards the end of last season.
b) He has also shown willing to play Tanganga there already.
c) He opted to do (b) rather than keep KWP here for the 2nd half of the season.... Then subsequently opted to sell KWP too.

So, essentially he has chosen this scenario rather then have KWP on the books as back-up. Of course, utopia is having 2 world class RBs, but none of this has been thrust upon him (and appears ot have a degree of forward planning about it).

Now, the CB position is a different situation. I´m not saying we need depth - I know we have 5 CB options. It would be nice to have more quality, but I know we won´t have an ideal scenario. For example, if we sign a quality CB and play him alongside Toby or Sanchez, "The Dier Experiment" would be our 4rd choice for the position. And by the way, I totally agree: it´s Jose call. Personally, I think our best partnership is Toby-Sanchez - at least until we sign a better defender.

I still wonder if there is a CB in the pipeline... We've been linked with a couple and if Ndombele is to leave we may see something like:

TN out / Skrinier in (swap)
Foyth sold / Sangare bought.

I'm far from sure Jose's plans in terms of DMs/CMs/CAMs... I'm intrigued how things will play out.

I know that players say garbage like this all the time when it is clear that they won't be starting but I can't see how moving to Wolves gives him a better chance at 1st team minutes.

I might be missing something but it seems they play Doherty, Traore and Dendonecker on the right in MF/WB. I can't see him replacing any of those 3. Maybe Dendoncker moves back to the back 3 and Maitland-Niles thinks he will play the inside position on the right in the MF 5 but that doesn't seem likely.

Wolves also don't have Europe so don't need to rotate the squad all that much creating more chances. I get that their formation works well for him to be a WB, but he isn't playing ahead of Doherty or Traore that play in that role for them.

Silly boy

Just having a vent after a bad bad day......

Yep. Hopefully that’s what is going on here. Probably all dependant on us getting a decent fee for Aurier from Milan or anyone else. He’d be an upgrade.

I wonder how much he'd be valued at?

Contract til 06/23.... £15m seems well cheap even if he is 28.

I think Jose and Sacramento are building this team with two players in front of the back four. That´s why I´ve been saying Hojbjerg was not signed to be the anchor of a traditional 4-3-3, or anything like that.

I think we are playing a 4-2-3-1 as our basic formation and I think we are changing the players according to the opposition. When we want to be more conservative, I bet on Hojbjerg-Winks in front of the back four, with Lo Celso ahead of them as a 10 - interesting to notice Jose´s comments after Saturday´s game, saying Winks was very comfortable playing alongside a player like Hojbjerg.

Against teams expected to sit deep, I think we are playing a Hojbjerg-Lo Celso pivot, with four attacking players ahead of them. Jose really likes Dele Alli, let´s not forget.

Why don't you f*ck off you pompous arrogant would-be expert. You are without doubt the most unpleasant opinionated prick I've ever come across. Online or in life. And I've come across some beauties in my time.
You're only happy when you're putting someone down or proving to yourself that you are "king of the forum"
There must be something awfully wrong in your life because you behave like a surly 6th form prefect. No wonder so many people on here dislike you. That's something you can be extremely proud of.

You just owned me

There’s a difference between sticking someone in for a big match in am unfamiliar position on the fly and developing a player into a new position, no?

Not if your biggest goal on the site is to continually crap on the old manager.

Then anything you can spin to try and be a negative for him is the worst thing anyone has ever done in the history of the world.
