Watkins got 26 goals last season, at a similar age King wasnt hitting double figures at Blackburn in the championship. Not saying Watkins is a sure thing, its a risk with no top level minutes but we dont know how he will turn out. I think i could hazard a guess on King because at his age with 5 years in the prem what you see is what you get. Very average and wont get better. I do agree if we want proven we'll have to find some more money from somewhere.
JM has a say in the transfers and I dont think its a coincidence that our first 3 signings (Hojbjerg, Doherty and Hart) all come with a lot of PL experience - so not surprised that's what he wants out of a striker as well.
Worth recalling that most of the time at Bournemouth he's been playing as a 2nd striker with Callum Wilson as the main goalscorer, so that basis King's goalscoring record of about one goal in 3 games isnt that bad. And Spurs make more chances than Bournemouth.
Think he could play as centre forward in place of Kane, or indeed as one of the AM's in support of the Spurs striker. Given the number of games in a short space of time this season, he might well play say 20 games as centre forward and another 20 in competition with Son, Moura, Bergwijn, Lamela et al.
ATM our plan is probably to see how Parrott does at Millwall this season (where he's been scoring in pre-season) to bring back next season as another back up.
BTW, I quite like Ollie Watkins but he's already 24 so should be scoring lots in Championship at that age, the risk is moving to the PL where with the number of games we have we probably do not want to risk taking on a player who might take time to adjust to the speed of play and better opposition players.
