Is that really true? I know he was extremely highly rated 2 years ago but heard he was average-to-good last year.

Sounds exciting but never watched him much
I watched him 7 times last season, if I remember correctly. I made it my business when we started being linked with him. 5 times in the CL, and twice in the EL. And by the end of it, I couldn't bear the sight of him.

He moves like an old man. Or a competitor in a 3-legged race. And he is a cunt for backing off and backing off and backing off, and makes plenty of mistakes. He's not even physically strong. And his ball-playing is bang average.

Lol jeesh. He'll fit right in to be fair.

Many of us suspected there'd be a pot of about 50m (+sales).... Aside from wages we haven't exceeded that yet; but maybe that low-interest £175m loan is coming into play for any further purchases?
Unlikely, old boy. Those Government backed business continuity loans are subject to very strict criteria.

I doubt one of "Pay some overrated centrehalf 200K a week, and if his agent happens to the cuntoid Riaola make sure he gets about 25 mill under the counter" was in the list.

I'd love that just doesn't seem a Levyesque risk, does it?

I dunno.... Perhaps the acceptance that a rebuild was required (see Amazon doc) was real and he felt it had to happen despite covid (how many other teams took that BOE loan option? I haven't heard of any....).

Last summer/Jan: Phase 1
This summer: Phase 2

Fair fucks if so(*). It would certainly confirm that they are committed to us at least being a CL team.

(*I've long maintained that the 18/19 "austerity" was a byproduct of the stadium project, rather than just complacent tight-fistedness.)

We could certainly afford to trim the fat.... The tricky part is juggling the HG-stuff.

CCV
Rose
Gedson (home)
Foyth (prefer a loan, IMO)

.....are obvious.

Lamela or Sissoko perhaps if you can find a buyer.

Definitely mate, need to trim some off the books like you say, Gedson was never a good purchase imo, said that from the start, should move him on. Rose for sure, CCV I agree on as well, Foyth I think could be a quality player so yeah, send him on loan.

Sissoko I would sell but Lamela I feel can contribute as a squad player still, he's willing to step up and do the dirty work even if he isn't anything special, however if we can replace him with someone better for that role then I would sell him as well.

I feel like most clubs release info like this, Spurs have been talking about needing to sell to buy, and then all of a sudden in one week they spend 45-50m on Reguilon and Bale with no outs. Woolwich were releasing that they had a 40m transfer budget in Summer 2019 and their net transfer spend was like 80m+.

Part of me wonders if Levy was hesitant for this 'rebuild' that Pochettino was talking about simply because we finished in the top 4 four consecutive seasons and we got to a Champions League final. But seeing how the team played last season + how we looked against Everton (and maybe now Plovdiv), he's seeing that the team needs reinforcements and isn't good enough on its own.

The caveat to that theory though is our big spend last season..... i.e. Any semblance of a rebuild was not only acknowledged by Levy about a year ago, but it was also already underway.

Yeah, wait until you see yesterday's game then*. Was clipping more difficult (lower margin of error) passes over the top.

*Ligue 1 angles and frames caveats
Yes, I am watching the first half. He made one loose one that turned into a dangerous situation (but the best in the world do that). And he has gone back to his keeper a few times, which I wasn't crazy about. But it is a really open game. Very entertaining.
